Been pulled over for window tint? Tell me your experience. Can you just eat the ticket and blow off the removal or do they follow up? Hoping it never happens but I want to be prepared on what to do if it does. I know I'm illegal here in Ohio.
I have my windows tinted here in NJ and I have never been pulled over for it. Even went for inspection, and they don't seem to look at or care about window tint anymore.
I have never been pulled over for tint, I think its a secondary offence kind of thing. All my cars have the darkest tint and I have never gotten a ticket for it, I have been pulled over quite a few times LOL LOL (cant seem to drive 35 LOL). Being a ccw holder I roll the windows down, hands on the wheel, courteous and friendly.
I've never been pulled over for tint in any of my vehicles. TX just got rid of the annual safety inspection (because why should we ensure a vehicle's lights, brakes, tires, etc. work) so they won't even check now.
I find the fact that I don't get pulled over is directly correlated to not driving like an a-hole on public roadways.
Also in Ohio and I've always had window tint. Never once been pulled over. Even with 5% all around! Plan on getting my windshield done at 50% or 35% to round it out. Some countys are waaay more strict tho I've heard
Mine is tinted but with the maximum darkness allowed by law. Never been pulled over for it. Why not just stick with whats legal, and not worry about it ?
I haven’t been pulled over for tint in probably close to 20 yrs.
In PA atleast tint is a secondary offense, so my logic is “don’t do stupid ****, and cops won’t bother me”
Not me personally, but I've known people who've had to provide proof (ie receipts and work orders) for tint removal, and one kid who had to peel his tint off on the side of the road.
I suspect as with most things in life, outcomes are determined by attitudes.

It is a primary offense, some will stop to "look beyond" the stop, wanted people, drugs etc. Most cops are not fans of windshield tint due to night restriction.. most cars are 70% from the factory, newer, so anything added takes you below. Just an fyi... as said above, attitude is often key. It is not part of Pa.'s inspection, it should also be noted there are 2 separate sections, no letting 70% light through, and not being able to see inside the car. Your stop will vary if an officer can't see the interior (this is day time obviously) as far as officer's approach. It's a good idea to have the window down as an officer approaches, this will greatly enhance your chances of a good conversation and result.
NY legal is 70%. I have 5% on my car and have never been hassled. I do keep an eye out and if I do see a cop I roll my windows doen quick just to play it safe LOL. I only have the brow on my windshield done... not the whole thing

True but in major cities they will still test emissions. And true they never looked at the windows just plugged into the computer then gave me print out
20% sides and rear, 50% on windshield. Haven't had any issues. I do partially roll down the windows when going by LEO's to let a little more light in, just in case.

They'll pull you over and have you put window partially up so they can use their meter. The option is to either pay fine and take chances or pay fine and take car with removed tint to a court hearing at the magistrates office. The officer who cited you will then check for removal. A week or so later you'll receive a check returning your payment.
Dealers are allowed to sell cars illegally tinted and it's not part of annual inspection in PA.
I went many years with tint on vehicles until encountering an officer on "tint week".
