I have a 13 GS with 12,000 miles on it. Bought the car a couple years ago with 8500. Soon after I got it, the passenger side door speaker blew. Vibration, crackling, blah blah.
I replaced the door speakers with FoCal set and 1500 miles later, sounds like absolute dog ****. Same speaker is blown. Anyone encounter this or have suggestions on a good stereo set up?
When I bought the car, I did upgrade to a Kenwood receiver,

More info needed. Are you running the stock amp ? What’s the Ohm rating of the Focal speakers (stock speakers are 4 Ohm if I remember correctly) ?
Are we talking about he lower door woofer? You can buy new oem replacement speaker form RockAuto.com. That would be the simplest solution. There was a known issue with water getting into the door and on to the speaker making the cone separate from the frame. The replacements do have a newer part # but I am not sure if it permanently solved the issue or not.

If you replaced the 10" in the door with a focal 6.5" speaker, It likely sounded like **** the whole time. That's a midbass woofer crossed over very low, so 99% of 6.5s just don't play well there.
That said if you've blown 2 speakers this way, you likely have an issue beyond picking the wrong woofer. Could be water intrusion, could be you're driving the amp into distortion. Could be a combination of things.
I have a kenwood ddx and it will definitely pop the stock door “subs” if you crank it up too loud. I would put stock woofers back and just keep the bass setting to zero, it still absolutely thumps for stock and I have the non Bose.
I have a Kenwood head unit installed on my 2012 Grand Sport 3LT, every other component is factory. Vol on 18+ hurts my ears , the sound quality and power is excellent.
Agreed, i kept getting headaches and come to find out it’s from how loud my radio goes! Anything over 16 on the kenwood volume and it will hurt my ears, seriously.
