Default Ground wire question

2010 Grand Sport/A6/174,000 miles

Ive been dealing with an intermittent issue of my service ABS/Active Handling/Traction Control lights coming on as well as the brake lights sometimes not working. Since Sept 2024, Ive changed the abs computer and pump TWICE, the brake pedal position sensor once and removed the LED brake bulbs putting the OEMS back in. The battery shows 14.3-14.5 volts when running. Today I started on finding and cleaning all the grounds. Cleaned the one on the drivers side frame rail, 3 on the passenger side frame rail, found the two on driver side of the block, the one by the starter. The diagram shows 2 on the rear frame rails behind the wheels. The driver side I found and cleaned, but the one on the passenger side isnt there…..the post for it is there but no ground wire whatsoever. Theres not anything loose or cut off like someone has hacked it up. Could GM have eliminated or put it somewhere else?

I can't help you with the grounds, but I will suggest that you check the two blue connectors next to the BCM. Clean them well and put them back together with some dielectric grease. I had brake light problems a few years ago, and the culprit turned out to be those two connectors.

Having a scan tool to read all of the cars modules will help identify what may be wrong and see if you have any trouble codes present…just shot gunning parts can be expensive !!
