Default Hood/Trunk Struts Replacement

Where are you guys getting your replacement struts for both hood and trunk? I tried going to Rockauto, but their Website won't load.

Also, are the struts for the trunk and hatchback the same?

I just bought mine at the local auto parts store. Took one with me and matched it up.

Since they are a cinch to replace and cheapies last almost as long as pricey's, I go cheapie on Amazon. I see all four for 22 bucks.

Have only replaced the hood struts, and got them from Amazon. Perform at least as good as the OEM ones did.

Just remember that the rears are different that the front struts, since the wire runs through the rear struts for the window heater grid.

Is that just for hatchback or for both hatchback and vert?

Since I had never replaced the struts before, I watched some YouTube videos. All the videos showed two people doing the job with one person holding the hood or using a wood prop to be sure the hood didn't drop. I didn't have anyone to help me, and a wood prop doesn't work very well to support a Corvette hood. I asked for tips on safely making this a one person job. The people on this forum teased me mercilessly, and only two people actually answered the question.

I would use THIS:
Amazon Amazon

ZKTOOL strut brace. Can also be used for spark plugs, but mainly to hold up hoods and trunklids to prevent head bonking

I wrapped a towel around the strut and used vise grip pliers to prop up the hood. I didn't tighten the pliers any more than I had to and used my shoulder to help support the hood.

The ZKTOOL looks better than vise grips.
