I would suspect that the materials used in the $40 ones are not the same as the higher priced ones, even though they might be the same color. Each item would need to be compared in detail, but that is usually the case although more expensive is not necessarily better I know. But I do know that the air filter is probably one of the most critical parts of the engine, and if you get 75-100K out of one, that is not a lot of money. IMO.

I looked up the maintenance schedule and it recommended 45k miles, so that makes a little more sense. 👍

How often do you change yours? I live near the beach and it’s a little sandy, plus I have the bottom feeding C5. So I have been changing every couple years, or about 4,000 miles…

My car is a weekend toy, i only drive about 2,000 mi /year so a brand new filter will last me awhile. A top quality WIX filter at $68.00, if i drove more i would probably change it every 10k miles.
