Looks like the RCDLR unit in my C6 is failing and needs to be replaced.
I’ve done my homework here and looked at older posts and have a good idea on what to do.
I would like to ask those who have done it if there any “watch outs” I should know.
Thanks as always!
I would make sure you get the right one....not sure if you can go by year alone. I pulled console and got the OE number off mine before I bought one for when I eventually need it. Supply is scarce so I got one from a 40k mile salvage off eBay.

I do believe I found the correct one on eBay.
Going to open up the console and check Sunday.
Any watch outs with programming?
Does seem a bit involved.

So how did you come to the conclusion that your RCDLR "looks" like it's bad ??...what are you seeing ??...these modules rarely go bad !!

Below is what I’m currently experiencing.
Ongoing issues with the TPMS sensors - sensors won’t accept programming.
Occasional “Service Tire Monitor” DIC message.
XX PSI pressure reading was intermittent - now it’s constant.
No fob detected message appearing more frequently.
U 10000 00 communication fault.
Please let me know what your thoughts are and if I should be looking at something else.

I would check the RCDLR powers and grounds....if it's not getting its powers or grounds it's not going to operate correctly...if intermittent may be a bad connection...after checking powers and grounds it would be good to do a "wiggle test" of the connection and also a terminal tension or pin drag test of the connector terminals.
We’re going to dig into the console on Sunday.
Will definitely check the connections.
I read somewhere that tapping the top of the unit will sometimes restore the connection.
is that what you mean by a “wiggle test”?
What is a “terminal tension or pin drag test of the connector terminals”.
A buddy will be working with me on Sunday - I do think he’ll know what you mean.

If you have to tap on the module to restore communication you probably have some bad solder joints on the board.
When you hit the start button without putting your foot on the brake do you hear clicking coming from the dash above the radio?
No clicking - the only thing that happens is the dashboard lights go out.
Not sure if this makes a difference.
I do have an aftermarket system installed.
It is the KnightDrive android tablet.

Try putting the factory radio and climate control back in.
Some LED bulbs have DC-DC voltage dropping circuits in them (buck converter) based on switch mode power supply technology which generates high frequency noise. This creates RF interference between the FOB and pickup antenna causing intermittent issues.
As for the KnightDrive, it has bluetooth, wifi, and 4G LTE all integrated in the unit which are all transmitting RF signals extremely close to the RCDLR in the dash. The RCDLR is not shielded and can be very susceptible to RF noise sources. This will also cause intermittent issues.
MARSC6 is bang-on in asking if the issue goes away with stock electronics. And C5_Diag is also correct when he says these units rarely fail, they are pretty robust. The only known issue sometimes is cracked PCB solder joints at the connector.
