C6 Headlights.......

Scott

At any rate, I think the majority of people will love the new headlights once they see them on the finished product.

Gee, no, none of us every thought of that. Actually WHO CARES. The point is, it WILL happen and someone will find a way.
Maybe there won't be room and maybe there will. There has to be room under there for the assembly that will be there right from the factory and the lights these days are tiny and will be getting even smaller, therefore less room needed.
Anyway, read the reply by Captain Morgan, who had a better understanding of my first post!
I don't care one way or another about the tlights, I own a C5 and will not own a C6 for years to come, if ever. It was all speculation of what I can just imagine happening, and it WILL happen. Someone will figure a way.
Oh, and I also predict sales plummetting for those retrofit bumpers for early C4s that convert the big round tailights to the late-C4 square ones.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

BING! We have a winner!
Yep... I don't see it happening. :nonod:

I could be way off, but I don't think they test a car's fuel economy with its headlights both on and off. :skep:
I think the main reason they removed the popups was for weight savings and to move forward and evolve the Corvette. Popups, as traditional as they may be, are dated.

I don't necessarily think that the headlights, when down, have a negative effect on aerodynamics.
.
And what's this testing top speed in an '86 Celica about, anyway?
Do you think that the wind could have changed on the day you tried it? There may have been a headwind on the first test, or a tailwind on the second.
Now *maybe* somebody who does a total reskin will be tempted to include some retro-future-style hidden headlamps, but it'll be a whole lot of trouble.
Now, owing to the controversy of exposed headlamps on Corvette, and to the faddish nature of the bug-eyes-under-glass look GM has chosen, I think it's a certainty that we'll see a hurried aftermarket for black surrounds, chrome surrounds, peekaboo black/bodycolor covers, smoke covers, and eventually replacement fixed units with alternate bulb styling to fit the factory hole (and harness).
Most such aftermarket stuff will probably be tacky, from ricer to redneck to bling-bling, but I hope that something will surface that's a tasteful replacement for the wretched diseased eyeballs that will be coming from the factory.
Not that I have a strong opinion about them one way or the other.
