And when does C5 production end? Seems like I read somewhere that C6's will be available to the public in the Spring. This would mean shutting down C5 production early next year to support the transition right?
dave hill stated at carlisle the rollout for the C-6 coupe was april. he could be wrong but i doubt it. july is the normal date for changeover but they want the C-6 out early. they know with the C-6 comming the demand for the C-5 is going to fall off early. :chevy
Re: When does C6 Production Begin (clem zahrobsky)
Does this mean C5 build is already shut down (there haven't been any updates to the C5 production timeline since 11/14 recently on the C5 Registry site)? Or is C5 production continuing thru some date in early spring in parallel with the C6 change-over??? Has the last C5 already been built non-ceremoniously?:U
I read here that C6s wouldn't hit the streets until next October, which indicates a full model year of C5 production and a changeover in July. Isn't that when year-to-year changeover occurs?
As for Spring, I believe that's when engine specifications and the interior will be unveiled.

The Chevrolet dealers who attended the business meetings in Las Vegas last month had a chance to see the all new C6!
Great news, the C6 will get the full 32 to 35K production run right out of the box unlike the C5 which was limited to around 9700 units in 97. I think that bodes well for availability and less chance of dealer mark ups.

That is the same number as current. So 1st year production will be shortened by the shorter year. Normally production starts in July. This years will start in Oct? So reduce it by at least 25% maybe a 25k 04 model year at it's best.
Most of the snow birds will get 'em just in time to store it. :smash:
From my knowledge the C5 will start to build out in March or April...They will begin building the C6 at the end of December 03 and January 04...Actually for a couple of months both the C5 and C6 will be built at the same time...
As they did with C5, I expect they'll hold C6s in lots until production issues are worked out, in an attempt to maintain Corvette's reputation for initial quality.

I'm told I can convert my deposit to an order in April/May and to expect delivery in October/November. That's about 6 months between order placement and delivery, but I'm expecting initial production to be a little slow, anyway.
