Why do people think that the corvette is gonna be priced 60K+? It makes me very nervous to hear that....

Some magazine article gave that impression. I think it was Vette.
Rest easy.

GM brass are on record as having said that the C6 will start around the same price as C5

A loaded 'vert or a Z06 may end up around $60K, but there is no way that will be the base price as some have claimed. GM may not be the sharpest pencil in the box, but they're not stupid enough to jack up the price $15K for the Coupe.

I believe the MSRP of a base coupe will be about $3K more than a C5, so I figure about $48 to $49K.

But how many people are gonna go for a base model with zero options? It'll be as rare as the Dodo bird. I would love to have it be cheap but I just don't think it's gonna happen. So you figure $52K+ for a typical coupe and add tax, title, license and you're staring at $60 large. However, if they pull it off with the interior upgrades and quality then it will still be a bargain.

Maybe for the Z06, but not the base C6.

Those aren't MSRP prices, BTW.

If you go make a FULLY LOADED CE coupe it's at $58K on Chevy's site.

You hit it right on the head. I see 55K easy with options and tax.

Why do people think that the corvette is gonna be priced 60K+? It makes me very nervous to hear that....

Everybody wants or would like more power, better suspension, lighter frame, better interior, high powered headlamps, and etc and I wonder what the seats wiil be like, because they really suck in the C5 .
Well all that is not free and you get for what you pay for. So you better expect the price tag to go up.

Here is my prediction; That there willat first be a coupe for about the same price, but with 405 horsies. Then the Convertible Vette for it's same big price. Then the Z06, (or whatever they call it), for about 60....ish

Let the price be as high as necessary but absolutely as low as possible to bring out a no compromises 'Z07' or 'SuperVette' -- whatever ya want to call it just make sure it's stellar and without excuse. I've got a spot reserved for one if the General hits the mark. Cheers.

I'd need/want only two options on a base coupe - Z51 and MN6. The CD and AC are standard.

Never fear, the law of supply and demand has not been repealed. What's the difference in cost between a 2001 Z06 purchased at list price when they came out, around $51K, and a 2007 Z06 with a list price of $60K purchased at a $9K discount? Right. A new Porsche 911 now is going for a $12K discount depending on options. We will have to see what the economy is like in a few years, which is kind of like predicting long term weather patterns. I picked 2007 because that's when I plan to be looking at the Z06.
