ScotH - Nice job! Is it my imagination or does the cab for the C6 look higher?

Using the mirror's as a guide it sure looks like the C5's windshield flows further back than the C6.

Overall height is 49.1" versus 47.7 for an '04 coupe.

You can really see how they changed the car from this perspective. Look how much more room there is in the passenger compartment. The rear and front overhangs are much less, and the wheelbase is slightly longer. All as they told us. I'm still very surprised at how curvy and large they fenders are from the side!

The C6 is supposed to be about 5" shorter. The comparison above has them both the same length. By making the C6 longer than it is compared to the C5 it will look taller as well. Here they are with the C6 shortened 5":

According to the Autoworld article, the C6 is about 1.5 inches taller, but then they stated the length was 105.7."

Here's some summary data to go with the photos.

.......................................C 5...............C6

Body/Chassis:

O/A length........................179.6".... ......174.6"
Wheelbase........................104.5". .........105.7"
Curb weight, approx lbs.....3250............3245

Engine:

Bore..................................3. 90"...........4.00"
Stroke...............................3.6 2"...........3.62"
CID...................................34 6..............365
Max HP.........................350@5600..... .400@6000
Max torque, lb-ft............375@4400......400@4400
Redline.............................6200 .............6500

C6 is the SHORTEST Corvette ever built- 0.5" shorter than C2, 5" shorter than C5 - but has the longest wheelbase - 1.2" longer than C5.

Prior reports of a a less steeply raked windshield on C6 are born out by the photos. The windshield frame/dash structure is likely different than C5 as is the windshield. Seventy percent of the total parts count is new; 30 percent carryover.

Anyone notice how much taller the roof is? Not the height of the car, that's already been mentioned, but the roof panel seems taller and more round.

BTW, why would they make the car 1.5" taller and try to increase aerodynamics at the same time? That doesn't make any sense to me.

Taller height means more headroom. Tall drivers can feel a little cramped in C5. The taller height and less steep windshield also give the perception of a slightly airier cockpit.

Though Cd is reported to be down ten points (a "point" is .001, and these numbers are likely rounded down), frontal area could be a bit greater, so overall Cd times frontal area may be a wash.

Nowithstanding the above, with 400 HP and optimum gearing top speed should be about 180 MPH, but this is the point were GM is getting the jitters as is Goodyear. Z06 was intentionally geared a little short so its top speed is rev limited.

WOW !!!! What a Great comparison !

It does seem odd that the roof would be higher when one can see that the side glass is shorter (height). Have to wait and see the official specs.

Very nice job !!

Don't forget about the extra room needed if you're on the track and wearing a helmet.

ScottH, can you do a true size comparison? The C5 is longer than the C6 but in the photos both look to be the same length.

Nice work guys. This really shows me the new body. I like the fenders, kinda C-3. I'm like it the more I see it. I wish I could afford one.
