The interior door release mechanisms appear to be buttons located in the door hand grips where ones thumb would naturally fall. I wonder what kind of interlocks are included, especially on the passenger side, for preventing someone from inadvertently opening the door(s) at a stoplight, especially if the passenger is "tense" from the smokin' ride. (especially now with no dash grab handle) Been there, done that.

My guess is that there is a mercury switch or somethinf of that type that senses G forces. Any force and the switches are inoperative. You've already got the G-meter in the HUD so it'd be relatively easy.

Looks like the tried to put it up and out of the way on the passenger side, albiet Murphy's law still applies. Something to look at GM with regards to safety/liability.

I don't see a big problem here. Why wouldn't it be pretty much the same as the C5?
The doors lock when the car is put into gear (automatic) or when the parking brake is released (manual) With the doors locked you can't release the door with the inside handle. Should be the same on C6. The push buttons won't work with the doors locked.
If for some reason you unlock the doors while driving and would happen to hit the push button it would pop the door but it wouldn't be any different than a C5 except that the button would be a little easier to hit accidentally than pulling a handle.
If you look carefully at the very bottom right corner of the picture, you can see the recess in the top of the arm rest for the passenger-side door pull (like the early C4's). It looks to me like the grab handle is exactly that, a grab handle.

If you have seen the entire door panel you would see the recess in the corner is the power window switch. There is no door pull on the armrest.
>>>My C4's door panels are a different style. Window switches in a differnt spot and the door pulls are different as well.<<<
Not what I meant. The driver and passenger door panels in the C6 aren't mirror images of each other. The passenger door pull/grab bar is completely different than the drivers side.
Here is the story on the doors from the LA Show yesterday.
The "Key" is a proximity transmiter, similar to a Mobil Speed Pass, that will unlock the car when it is within one meter of it. There is a rubber covered switch inside the outside pull that unlatches the door via electric actuator.
The door is unlatched from the inside via the push-button in the arm rest/door grab.

There are no door handles in the conventional sense...
In the case of a dead battery there are emergency pull cables inside the car. If you need to get into a car with a dead battery from the outside, there is a keyhole and manual release for the rear hatch above the license plate:
Kind of reminds me of an old shaved and filled hot rod with door solenoids.

They aren't exactly mirror images in a C4 either which is what I was trying to get at.
looking at the LA car show pics-looks like the c6 has retro door lock ***** on the top of the door matching the color of the car-anybody see this?look at the pic with the door open (drivers side).

It looks like another electric push-button. Pehaps to lock the doors.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
