c6/viper side by side
I mean Viper .. the new Viper.. everyone keeps saying how close the c6 looks like one. I thought seeing them next to each other would help. and not just the front. i mean side views.
This is not really what you're asking for, but it's a good way to tell that no, they don't look that much alike :)

I think they really look alike. Almost wonder if there was some "spy work" going on.
But between the two, my pick is the Corvette, because it seems much better in the details. And I am sure that it will be in real life.
I like the new Viper, actually, though I still favor the original outrageous look.
But based on the photos, I think I will really like the new Corvette, which appears to have more aggressive styling. Technical marvel that it is, I always felt the C5's looks suffered somewhat from "design by committee" . Some of the Corvette press also made that point, especially early on.
I think the C6 is going to be a real winner.

The C6 is 1" shorter, but it's wheelbase is 8" longer than a viper. This will make a bigger difference when seen in person. The C6 is more modern, the viper is still a (I need corvette sales) wanna be.

What do you mean they don't look that much alike?? The headlights are almost identicle and look at the hood creases.
In the vette the indentation for the lights is longer and deeper. The surround is body colored vs. not., the turn signals on the vette appear round vs angled on the outside of the cluster like the viper's.
How many ways are there to include low/high and signals into an exposed cluster on a sloped front end?

The Viper looks like a Viper and the C6 looks like a Corvette, headlight shapes are different, one has a hood scoop, the other doesn't and the grill openings are totally different.
After seeing all the comments in this section about how the C6 looks like this car or that car, it makes we wish I was an optometrist. Lots of folks here need an eye exam.

I've never liked the Viper; but I don't see any real similarity between it and the C6 lines.
And mentioning the Viper brings up a good point.... an engine alone won't cut it. How many here would never buy a Viper because of it's whacky exterior styling? It certainly has the rad engine... with 10 cylinders and all. But that alone is not enough. And the increased HP on the C6 is not enough by itself to please very many. The Corvette has always been both a style and performance car. It takes both to please Corvette enthusiasts... and (at least early on) it looks like the C6 fell short on one of these.

If you can look at the pictures of these two cars and not see striking similarities I think that you could need to take a trip to the eye doctor. That said, obviously when you get a true side-by-side the differences will become much more apparent (God I Hope!).
In these pictures they look like a targa and convertible of the same car! I know there are differences between the two, I just hope they are visible to the naked eye.
My $.02

Sorry, but I really don't. From the side, the C5 and C6 are both wedges (rear to front)... but the Viper is one level mass with a quickly rounded front.
