GM engineers have already been quoted as saying that they expect the C6 to be about 70% as good as a Z06 on track. It has to be this way otherwise they can't make the Z07 the quantum leap in handling they so desperately want it to be over the stock car. It was always thus. If the stock car performed like a Z06 then there would be no point in a Z07. There has to be that big difference.

C6 puts the same track lap times as a C5 Z06........
And from what i have read the C6 puts its power better coming out of corners....(Less power slidding oversteer than the Z06)......
No. I want to be wowed and blown away by the apperance of a car. That's ugly, not to mention dull, unadventurous, lame. My mate has seen it in the flesh and you know what? Ugly!

That's why they quote indentical times at Nurburgring for C5Z06 and C6 Z-51 Coupe and 12.5 @ 115 mph in the 1320. I like both. I own a C5. But this is so much like the C4 forum talking about the C5, that I must feel sorrow for all of the jealous souls out there.
Not really. I have an 02 Z06 and a 1998 Z28 and the proceeds of selling both here in the UK would buy a C6 but neither has a For Sale sign on. Just because a car wears a badge doesn't make it an automatic success - ask BMW about the new 5 series. A lot of people here see this as a C4 vs C5 type argument but I'm not talking about Corvette freaks here, I'm listening to people who know nothing about Corvettes here in the UK and I haven't heard anyone say they like the car.
Forget the C4 vs C5. People look at this car as a stand-alone design here in the UK. Most have never even seen a C5. Show them a Ferrari 360 and they're all over it like a cheap suit. You don't need a "you'll get used to it" period for a Ferrari (and anyone who says the Enzo is good looking is lying too - LOL)
I seem to recall a long debate on LS1.com about how people would love the Pontiac GTO once they got it in the showrooms and guess what?
I really hope the C6 succeeds. It has to to secure the future of the Corvette. I just hope they have a front end facelift in the wings. Even Porsche had to revert to proper Porsche styling for the 997. Still, if you like the C6, go for it, we need as many people to buy them as we can find.

From what I've read, BMW 5 Series sales (YTD through April) are up 4%, and there is still no M5. The increase should be a lot stronger due to it being a new model, but they're up.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't understand how a C5 owner can say the C6 is hideous when, except for the headlights, they are very similar in appearance. I would bet that a non Corvette person could not tell them apart from any angle except the front.
Put a C4 beside a C5 and I don't under stand how a C4 owner can bash the C5 either! They are basically the same car in design.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
