I guess I'm too greedy.
I did not order NAV with my own C6 simply because I don't normally do the kind of driving that would benefit from having it. No cross country trips, and few excursions to parts of the country where a map wouldn't do just fine. That, plus the added cost of the NAV and the loss of the 6 CD changer led me to conclude that, for me, there was no point in having it. Conversely, my next family sedan, which gets most of the miles put on it, will likely be ordered with a NAV system, XM, and OnStar...all options I specifically did not get on my C6.
It's not about what's good or bad. It's just about what you're willing to pay for when you order your car, based on your own personal needs. This applies to every option offered, including 1SX, 1SA, 1SB, HPW, and the few add-ons GM lets you buy seperately. There really are no bad choices here since we're all winding up with the same car...a new C6.

But, get real friend ... knock off your

The screen resolution & unit functionality in the XLR is totally different than the C6 unit ... sorry man, you just don't get it, and probably .....
The road data turns out to be >4 years old (probably ~6) -- in this brand new car. I also found that there are no updates available from NavTeq for the maps since 1999 and I am waiting for a reply from them.
The POI data is pretty current.

And would only add that its real usefulness to your driving experience, if you have never used a nav system before, can only be judged until you have lived with the system for about six months and the newness has worn off.

also and this is perhaps the best put approach I've heard. I am new to it and wanted it for travel which it has failed at so far.I'm a pilot and used to very accurate navigation, perhaps I'm expecting too much from this unit. The GPS unit appears to be quite good. Will give it a bit more time.
