Or another way to look at it is since the C6 is really nothing more than a C5.5 why wouldn't the quality be just as good or better. After all it's basically the same car and they've had 7 1/2 years to learn how to build it.
Seriously, the point you make is what concerns me. After 7.5 years of learning to build the C5, there is stil the column lock issue, the leaky rear end issue, the fuel gauge issue, etc.
I have to ask why would anyone not get a C6 and settle for a year old Z06? The quality of the C6 now is as good or better than the last C5s.
Performance in a Z is better than a C6, Z06 should be priced at a steal right now. Some also seem to like the C5s looks better.. I would take either!!!

Yet the C5 still gets good ratings in J.D. Powers surveys and others. Just shows how much this kind of info is worth.

If you like the looks, get it. It's more powerful than the C5 and you're wasting your time if you worry about the quality issues. They've put a lot of time into it and it isn't a backdoor project the way the C5 was. They've had a green light and full blessing from the start and there was no pressure of "get it right or there's no more Vette" this time.
