I am biased but here goes.
Performance, based on my C5. 9.5 , clearly out performs the C5 in every category. Ride, body roll, acceleration, the C6 is an effortless performer.
Looks, my wheels look like polished wheels, I love them, I too was worried, but I was pleasantly surprised. Orange peel is better than my C5, and I just today was parked next to a 2004 commemorative edition blue coupe. It's orange peel was far worse than mine. Overall looks, this is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever laid eyes on. Pictures don't come close. The body's angles make it look much more sporty and muscular.
I am impressed with the overall quality, it feels like every detail was taken care of and thought out.

Well I'm not a C6 owner (not 'till next year). But why the cold feet? You're not letting the bashers cause you to doubt it are you? There were plenty of bashers of the C5, and they ware all F.O.S. because the C5 is a great car.

Only you can decide which one to buy. But I have seen notheing but positive reviews from new C6 owners. The only negative comments I have seen came from non owners.

Even though I don't own a c6 I have saw them in person and can comment on the paint. It looked fine to me and I'm a very picky person I did see some orange peel only noticed it because I had heard about c6's having a lot of peel and was looking hard. To me the paint was just as good quality wise as the 04 sitting next to it in the showroom.

Just remember, the C6 owners aren't bashing, it's the non-owners that are. But if you like the C5 Z06 then go for it. Those are great cars too. Either way, you need to think about it for a while, if you are that uncertain about it. This should be a fun experience. Don't do it if it causes you grief. Life's too short....but then that's whhy we drive Corvettes, eh?

If you can possibly wait till the 2006 model year the car will be MUCH BETTER quality wise. Even if you wait till spring to order at least some of the major quality issues will be addressed. Im telling you, buying an early GM first model year model is NO PRIZE. at least wait till spring or better yet 06 the wait will be worth it folks. Let all these other people field the C6s problems for you. "Continous Improvement" is alive and well at the BG plant. EVERY C6 coming off the line will be slightly better then the one before it the longer you can wait the better.

I have to ask why would anyone not get a C6 and settle for a year old Z06? The quality of the C6 now is as good or better than the last C5s.

VettXPert

You certainly picked the right name for yourself, but only you think that way. We have a different opinion of you. Your negative is getting tiring.

Gosh ...XPert, you sure seem to have alot of opinions (usually negative) about the C6 considering you don't OWN one yet and have only been a forum member since all of three weeks now??!! What qualifies you as such an XPert on Corvettes anyway? Are you a Bloomington judge? Concourse judge?

From what I've read here so far everyone that has gotten one seems to think it's a pretty damn fine automobile...after all where else can you get such performance, looks, styling and sheer enjoyment for the same $$$? It never will be all things to all people...but then not much in life is, is it?

When I get it (TPW 9/20), this will be my 22nd Corvette...and they have ALL been really great cars...maybe it's time you just listened...and stopped judging.

With all due respect...

Specifically, what improvements are you expecting in the spring? What major quality issues are there that must be addressed? The only issues I've seen mentioned deal with interior plastic trim and paint finish...hardly "major quality issues".

I think VettXPert is trying to get everyone to put off buying in hopes of having numbers of C6s to build up on dealers lots. Thinking then prices will come down and he can jump in and get one.

Excellent advice! How about letting me know via this forum when the last C6 is due to come off the line and I'll buy it.

Please provide the emperical data that this statement is based on. I haven't seen any J.D. Powers surveys that back this up or any other data on this matter. Not saying it isn't true, just saying it's a bit too early to be drawing these conclusions when no one knows.

Just ask VettXPert. He says that every vette that comes off the line is a little better than the last. So since the 05 are coming off after the 04 it has to be better. I mean it would have to go without saying.

Uh...ok. So your opinion is based on the opinion of one other person who basically has no real data on the subject.

No offense meant. Just kidding around.

Or another way to look at it is since the C6 is really nothing more than a C5.5 why wouldn't the quality be just as good or better. After all it's basically the same car and they've had 7 1/2 years to learn how to build it.

My vote is for high 9's... I do own one... the car is unbelievable... in many aspects~~handling, performance, power, technology, comfort, and versatility ... the more I see and understand about what went into this car the more I respect GM... they do listen to us and make improvements accordingly... for the price of this car and what you are getting... the $55K is totally worth it... I have owned 3 dif generations of vettes.. its clearly the best vette yet....
