First let me start by saying that this Vette is really a sharp, sharp looking car. Just as with any new body style, it takes some getting used to. I took a look at one up close and personal on Friday and left disappointed by a couple of things.
1. I miss the amber colored daytime running lights. For me, I always looked for that as I drove down the highway. You always knew when a Vette was approaching and it made the car look low to the ground with a wide stance and mean as hell! I'll miss that. On the topic of lights, I'm going to miss pop-ups. It's just a Corvette thing to me to have the pop-up lights. I understand, however, that pop-ups present aerodynamic issues and it's just another something that can break.
2. I hate seeing the Corvette tricked out with a bunch of fancy gadgets. I'm a 24 year old guy who is normally eaten up with gadgets. What has been neat to me over the past few years is how XM and NAV systems and the like have hit the market in high end automobiles, but that the Corvette has never added any of those high end features. To me it takes away from the car. It should be about the engineering and the awesome things happening underneath the hood. I hate to see detractors like this. I think it causes the car to appeal to a different type of owner. One who's more interested in luxury than the tradition.
Congratulations to you new owners!!! I hope to join the ranks soon! Please don't take my remarks as criticism towards the overall C6 project. These are just a few items I disagree with.
You want to see more Vette's sold? I hate seeing this market saturated. It's the reason a C5 will have trouble holding its value like the C2's and C3's have. I want the Corvette to be something that is special...not something you see at every stoplight like a Honda Accord.

I do because it makes sure there will be a Vette next year. And theoretically the more they sell the lower they could make the price (but I don't think that would happen). 30k a year is a pretty big number when you compare it to the Viper which sells much less, so in comparison the market is already saturated.
I think the Vette is special even though when I'm out driving I see them all the time.
Basically almost all cars offer those options and Chevy does have to keep up with demand, but the buyers will remain the same, the Corvette is a true enthusiast car. And that will never change other then making more enthusiasts!
As for the pop up lights.... pleeeeeeze! I had problems on my C5 all the damn time with them, one would go up the other would'nt, then one would go down and the other wouldnt... good riddens. You have to experience it to hate it, but the new lights are gorgeous, best thing about the C6 i think.
I'd have to say it is some of those options which draws me to the C6. I am still deeply, VERY deeply obssessed with my C5 - - - but I'd say in about 5 years I'll consider getting the C6 - it is still growing on me. And when I do, it'll definatley have navigation, I don't really see myself paying for XM though - but I really don't have any exposure to XM anyway.
I somewhat agree about the pop ups too, because I had a WS6 and now have a C5, the last two cars to have pop ups - - - with very little to no problems (knock on wood). However, the Zenons look schweet on the C6 - the downside is, GM tried to make the car look too much like a Ferrari.
Maybe so, Alx...it's not the way a pop-up functions versus these Xenon's, it's just the way I'm used to a Corvette being. I'm sort of a Corvette purist. I like them to be left 100% stock and never touched. I don't like aftermarket anything. For me personally, when I think of the Corvette, I think about the pop-ups!

What kind of pop-up headlights does the 59 have? Is yours 100% stock? Just curious.

I agree. A limited production hurts Corvette development. This is less revenue for GM, which means less money for R&D, racing, manufacturing improvements, etc.
The Corvette will never be as mass produced as cars like the Honda Accord. It just doesn't have a mass marker appeal.
IMO, measuring the Corvette by exclusivity is missing the point of the
car.

For me at first... I REALLY liked the C6... I thought it took a little something from every C era. I was going to buy one but then... there were those LIGHTS... those damned lights... when you look at the car you cannot help but focus on those damn lights... neat? Ya... Corvette? Nope!
GM Staff was 50/50 on this issue and one of the most contentious within with regard to the C6. So, those of you that do like them and don't like them.... your in 50/50 company with GM.
The old style malfunction dilema? Who cares... everything breaks... this fix from GM is going to be a hard one to swallow with Time being the audience.
One thing nobody can deny... they are NOT Corvette... never have been... Time will tell if they will BECOME Corvette!

What kind of headlights did the corvette have the first 10 years?

Ironic that someone with a 59 Vette is claiming a "pure Vette" must have pop-up headlights considering that from 1953 to 1962 the Vette didn't have pop-up's, they had fixed headlights.
The headlights don't bother me and I have been a Vette enthusiast most of my young life. I currently own a Midyear, C4, C5 and soon to have a C6 in the stable. Same goes with the options, if you don't want them don't order them, that simple.
