Now that's what I call helpful info!

Raise the rear of the C6 a little and get underneath. Look on the driver's side of the transmission and you'll see a white plug on the side of the transmission. Unplug. Plug the CAGS eliminator into the wiring harness and put the weather cap on the socket on the transmission housing. Zip tie the CAGS eliminator to keep it from swinging around.

Or for those who realize that a 6 speed is driven differently on the track than it is in traffic or the Wal Mart parking lot.

I get awfully tired of people posting on the forum that if you drive it right you won't have the CAGS kick in. That's total Bullsh*t. I"ve been driving manual transmission cars for 35 years. I've roadraced motorcylcles, and have some of the best 1/4 mile times around for a six speed Corvette. Anyone thinks I don't know how to drive a manual transmission, come on down to Houston for a ride.

In city traffic there is simply no need to run the RPM's too high just to avoid going from 1st to 4th.

It always bites you in the *** when you're inching through an intersection in heavy traffic. .

I can't figure it out either. People buy a 6 speed to have total control over what gear they want, yet some people seem content being forced to overrev under certain conditions so that your choice to move to 2nd doesn't end up getting overridden to 4th. Anyone who says "CAGS doesn't affect you if you shift properly" is either too mechanically inept or too lazy to get under there and spend the 10 minutes getting rid of it, or don't want to spend $20. Then they waste their time in CAGS eliminator threads trying to justify why theirs is still hooked up.

I have to politely disagree. I never put a bypass in, and haven't had it inhibit me in well over a year. Not a single time.
I drive my car daily, in traffic, in parking lots, and yes, around schools too .
It doesn't mean I race the car around, it just means I don't see a scenario which requires me to shift into 2nd at less than 2k rpm. Shifting at 2500 rpm certainly isn't unecissarily over revving.

I installed mine on Friday.

The 1-4 light still occassionally displays, but the bypass seems to be disabled.

Cool. No one can criticize the way you drive if that's the way you drive. You're not saying though, that because some of us choose not to rev to 2500 RPM in parking lots, that we're somehow not shifting properly. That's what I have a problem with. If you always shift above 2500 RPM... cool. If you don't, and CAGS gets in the way, that's cool too. Just don't tell me that CAGS gets in the way because I'm not shifting properly.

Mike
with you and my buddy Jim Schindler (who CAN post a very nice 1/4 mile time). I was going to join this thread last night but chose not to. Why does it bother some people so much when we choose to install a CAGs eliminator? I like to shift from 1 to 2 at about 1500 rpm when I'm driving in my subdivision. There is never a downside to giving yourself more options...unless of course, if you lack the mechanical skills to install a simple mod.
