Bringing it back once again. Has it been determined what the favorite replacement speakers are for the bose system? I want better sound but not ready to replace the head unit.
In my '05 vert I installed a JL CS113TG-TWS which is a 13 1/2" sub woofer speaker mounted in a slim fiberglass fully enclosed box laid on its back in the trunk:
Powered by a JL HD 750 watt dedicated 1 channel amp:
I removed the firewall to the trunk along with those useless mono Bose speakers so the sound travels forward. I also have a dedicated volume *** for the sub woofer installed on the center console.
To get the sigbal from the Bose head unit I used a PAC SNI-35 variable line out converter.
I kept the Bose 3 1/2" door speakers for a little while and probably would still have them because they sounded a whole lot better now that the splitter was sending all the lows to the sub, but I had already ordered Polk Audio db351 3-1/2" 2-way car speakers so I eventually swapped them out:
Noticeable upgrade

Reason: added info
A couple of years ago there seemed to be many members posting that 3.5 Boston Accoustics worked very well. Many posted excellent DIY pictures. I printed them and put them in binder. They are not sold in Canada, so I did not get arround to replacing mine. I plan to import them this spring and hire the installation.

Why waste your time with the center channel. Just disconnect it. It doesn't help anything. Cheap and effective Bose upgrade
1. Replace the 3.5 door and 5.25 inch rear speakers with Polk dB speakers.
2. Install a ADD-PAC24 adapter to get the line out from the Bose (or Nav) head unit. This is the hardest part as you will actually have to build the adapter yourself and solder RCA jacks. Instructions are in the Audio section, and it's really not too hard.
3. Keep the Bose amp for powering just the sub woofers.
4. Install a 4 channel amp. I used a Kicker 35Wx4 channel amp.
Total cost was $205 and worth every frugal penny. I tried switching just the speakers and using the Bose Amp to power them, but it was too weak to drive the speakers so the amp was necessary.

IMO you can live without the dash (center) speaker. Try just the doors and you may in fact like the separation. The center speaker dilutes that separation, but some people like it that way. I kept the center speaker because I drive almost exclusively top-down, and need that extra presence in front of my face
i just called crutchfield and they said they dont have harnesses for the C6 with the bose? i thought they did.....someone please clarify? thanks
I got a harness from Crutchfield, and everything works. However I think I already blew my passenger door speaker. Which is strange becasue I didn't think the HU would do anything to the power since it is all going to the Bose Amp. Maybe it was just old.
