After one week and 400 plus miles of driving since I got my car back ,it is now back at the dealers. When I started it up today the belt was squealing and the engine making whistling like sounds as I hit the gas. At least this time I got to drive it in rather than wait a breakdown.
Does anybody know if the 30 days the lemon law allows them to try and fix a problem is business days only or total time? In other words to weekend days when the shop is closed count?

Are you sure that someone close to you didn't have a supercharger installed as a Christmas present?
I think lemon laws vary by state don't they? You should be able to search your state's attorney generals office or BBB to find out I would think. From what I hear, it's pretty difficult to actually apply the lemon law though.

Actually, this is easy to apply the lemon law to as it affects the driveability and/or safety of the car. The 30 days, in every state i know, is business days
Days the shop is closed do not count (weekend/holidays/etc.)

I'm getting my car back today from the dealer. They got the fix from GM and are installing it today. Do you know if they did the GM provided fix or was it one they tried to troubleshoot on their own.
Just off the phone with the service mgr. Last Friday they fixed my car following the tech service bulletin . Now they are on the phone again with tech. Driving this car is akin to having a wife who keeps cheating on you but tells you not to worry as she won't do it again.
I just checked the Pa. lemon law and the dealer is given 3 attempts to repair the car or 30 CALENDER DAYS. I'm at day 13 now and they are on attempt two.
Bangbgc6 what is the name of the dealer that finnally got you back on the road? My guys should be talking to your guys.
Rancho Motors in Victorville. The service managers name is Al Trudeau.
The phone number is 800-395-3278. They have been very good so far I hope they can help somehow.

Do they have a Corvette trained mechanic on staff? It might not hurt to Call Donny Yorke, service manger @ Rydell Chevrolet in Northridge CA., for some insite. He is a Corvette enthusiast, and gives Corvettes special attenion. 818-832-1626
Good Luck

I'm sorry to hear your "fix" didn't hold, you are now #2.
The dealer that worked closely with GM for mine is Radley Chevrolet in Fredericksburg VA. The service manager is Jeff Merrit and their number is (540) 898-4000. He is a good guy and seemed knowledgable about the problem. Mine was the 2nd car in his dealership with the crank pulley problem but I don't know if the first one was a C6 or not.
On mine, the crank snout was damaged the 2nd time it failed (or the 1st time it was "fixed") so they either had to replace the crank or the whole engine, I hope you don't have to make that choice. If you don't want the car back though, an engine swap might put them over the 30 day mark...

NO I don't want a new engine. Selling the car with a replacement engine is no bonus.
Thanks for all the info.I have been passing it along.
Shooter,
I’d do that. You’ve had a bad run of it man and have been more than gracious with them. Tell them you want your $ back. Go to Kerbeck’s. Could be a short ride depending where in PA you live. Couple of weeks ago the PA Pike was free for a few days, toll taker’s strike. Best of Luck Buddy. Hang in there.

Thanks,
I am almost halfway to buy back--with calender days counting Monday will be 16. I live about 2.5 hours from Kerbeck's. 3 failed fixes or 30 calender days is what they have--the clock is ticking and I wanted to buy local but I will not wait for another order. So it will be off to Kerbeck's. Maybe the deals there will improve being the dead of winter with a big inventory. At this point I am past allowing myself to get worked up over it---either they will fix it and have it stay fixed--or it is gone. If I can save some dough by buying under MSRP we'll just call it compensation for the agravation.
Just off the phone with the sales manager who is looking at this thread and taking the names and numbers of the dealers you guys have provided. I feel bad for dealers as well as the victims of this problem---neither of us get a hell of a lot of help from GM.
Thanks,

I'm just trying to be logical here, not trying to be Mr. Smarty Pants, but what do you hope to gain by invoking the lemon law? They buy your car back, and you buy another one that has the exact same problem! It's more logical to me to stick with it until you get the right fix for this problem, installed correctly. That way you'll know you're done with it. Even if GM were to give you a brand new car today, there's no guarantee it wouldn't have the same problem. And if it did, you'd be stuck with the same dealer's experience (or lack thereof) in fixing it, lack of readily available GM parts and information to fix it, delays, etc.
Seems sorta crazy to just swap your car for another one just on the gamble that the new one won't have the same issue. We don't even have any information right now as to whether the problem has been corrected on the assembly line or not.
