Since the C6 is going to basically appear the way it is now for several years, then we will, no doubt, get some cool stuff in the next 3 years. But it's plenty cool enough for me as it is. Well..I do miss the lil' vent window to spit out of. Other than that though.....
I beg to differ. In my life, I have owned Audi Quattros, a BMW, Buick GS, E Type Jag, and a TR-6, among others. I was a SCCA Cen-Div champion.
I think that Acura taught Ferrari and others that a supercar need not be a penalty box. If you want raw power and no amenities, I suggest that you consider selling your vette and buying a Cobra (the original AC-based one, not the Mustang) or, if you want ultimate handling, a Super 7.
My point is that with modern engineering, you no longer have to suffer discomfort to enjoy performance.
By the way, did you order your C6 with the 1SX package, or the 1SB?
My point was simply that the C6's priorities are strongly slanted towards performance and not amenities. Yes, it's nice to have all the luxury stuff in a car and, if GM had been able to incorporate all that within the price constraints of the C6, it would be just fine. But, given the real world limitations of cost and weight, it's unlikely we'll ever see a full "luxo-sport" C6. When GM chooses to enhance the C6, it will undoubtedly be in the area of performance, not accessories. That's why we're getting a new Z06 rather than a C6 LTD.
I did go for the 1SB package because I needed a telescoping wheel and memory seats. If I could have gotten those two options alone, I would have. I too have owned several European, French and Japanese cars over the years. My last three cars were BMWs and my present family car is an Audi A6. I love the creature comforts that those cars offer...I just don't see those features as particularly relevant to the Corvette experience.
So, I guess you can wish for more creature comforts in this car but, realistically, I don't see any reason that GM would feel compelled to actually do that when the money could be put towards performance gains.
I might be getting a little nit-picky here, but I was just wondering:
1. If my $36,000 Trailblazer has a switch to heat the seat cushion and seat back, or just the seat back, why doesn't the C6? I have two bad discs in my lowe rback, and the seat back only heat is a real relief.
2. If my wife's new $ 27,000 Malibu Maxx has adjustable pedals, why not the C6?
3. If my $36,000 Trailblazer has power adjustment for the seat back rake, why not the C6?
4. If my $36,000 Trailblazer has seat-mounted seatbelts (comfort and safety), how come not in the C6?
I know that the C6 had to be built as light as possible (quoting ACB Chapman, enigineer in lightness, or something like that), but seriously, how much could these items weigh?
Just a thought.
Zach, do you even own a C6? Just out of curiousity.
I dont think at this point wheel mounted controls can be considered luxury features since they are finding there way onto cars at less than half the price point of the vette. Well below the pricing threshold of anything someone would consider a luxury vehicle. I believe we should have them. This is the only thing that stands out to me insofar as whats (IMO) missing. I personally will take any luxury item that doesnt get in the way of the cars performance mission and I love the fact that the car is capable of delivering stellar performance but still provide a good platform for long distance runs or daily driving.
GM has a budget on every vette depending on the model and specs....but i think they couldn't do these extra things becasue other's were more important to their specific market....
honestly a lever will do just as good as a button to move my seat...i would rather have the tires...
how much to get new tires for a malibu? $100 for all four??

I think you hit the nail on the head. If these were offered as stand alone options, a buyer could pick and choose. Go for luxury, or keep the weight off for performance. The customer is always right. And you are too.
