Crowbar?

Per the service manual, carefully pry up the center defroster grill/speaker grill cover (a clip on each end).
Remove four speaker screws, remove speaker and disconnect from wiring.
Quite simple really....

No, 2005 Corvette Service Manuals are not available to the public, as of this date. Not sure when they will be available.

rather than replacing it - you may just want to disconnect it.

other than in a surround setup (5.1/7.1 etc) a center channel is nothing more than a summed-mono signal that pretty much obliterates any semblance of a stereo image.

try to think of it as taking a pair of speakers playing in stereo, and just shoving them together in the middle... that's what you get.

No idea why bose put that there.

Bose *claims* it is so the driver and passenger will hear exactly the same thing. But as you note, doing that destroys the sound stage.

It doesn't bother me that the driver is sitting a bit to the left side of the sound stage and the passenger is sitting to the right. That's just *realism*, and that's what I want from a stereo system. I *do not* want the sound to appear to be coming from the center of my head. I want it to appear to come from in front of me, and separated out into a realistic stereo sound stage, just as if I were sitting in the front row at a live performance.

BTW, that's why I like car sound systems, like the Infinity system in my truck, which have tweeters mounted in the windshield pillars. Tweeters mounted low on the doors don't give a really clean sound stage. Of course a Bose system doesn't even have tweeters (and most of the directional information in a stereo recording is in the high frequencies).

AMEN!!!!
After spending time in the C6 and time in my C5 with my own version of an upgraded system(JL-XR 6.5 in the front, NO REARS, and a JL 8" Sub in the right side compartment. I am amazed at the sound and staging difference. The C5 is just incredibly better and that is with the stock HU!!!
I can't wait to unhook that center speaker... and change the 3'.5"s.
I saw a post where someone put 4" in there. I haven't had a chance to pull my panels, but for those that have, would 4's fit with no mods?
