Hello everyone! Wanted to give some input on replacing the fog bulbs, which in this case were the Hoen H10's. First off, take the 5 outer push pins out and the one towards the center, for a total of 6. Secondly, pull back the inner fender to gain access to the bulb and unplug it. Now turn the bulb approx. 90 deg., remove and reverse the process. Pretty simple, except for the one reason I'm writing this thread. If you do this upgrade and the new bulbs don't quite fit, here is what I did. There are 3 torx heads ( #10 or 15 ) that hold the tabs in place and I was going to turn these out to give the proper clearance. Instead, I noticed that the plastic tabs on the Hoen's are thicker than the stock bulbs and decided to simply file the tabs slightly. I used a file from my Gerber multi-tool and took approx. 1/64 off of the 3 tabs, on the opposite side of the bulb. They were still snug but they snapped in place just like stock. Worked perfectly and they really do match the factory HID's perfectly.
Thanks for that great info!
I have my H9 and H10 replacements but haven't put them in yet.
Do you have to remove the wheel to get adequate access to the headlight assembly? Or can this be squeezed in between the tire and the wheel well?

Thanks for the help C6FirstVette. From what I saw, yes, you will have to remove the front wheel to gain access to the high beams. However, you can just turn the wheel to gain access to the fogs.
Here are a few pics to help the explanation by robbiC5>>>
Upper access for HID and High Beams and lower access for the driving lights>>
Once upper access flap open this is what you see>>
And once you remove the cover to the High Beam you see this>>
I used Hoen H10 and H9 and were a direct install...just the driving lights (H10) were a bit to lock in...just be firm

I did this well my Daytime driving light/ turn signal burned out at 300 miles so I tried to access it through the panel it is the panel opposite of the two you are referring to. I didn't remove the fasteners in fear of destroying the plastic (I know this should be an easy fix and also the upgrades in the other two changes you show) but I may have to send to dealer as warranty repair besides isn't it UNUSUAL for a bulb DRL/turn signal to burn out at 300 miles? Hardly used it..
Also note the dealer/parts dept. has to special order the bulb because the car is new. So even if I did remove it I still have to wait.

Sure someone will say you do NOT have to remove wheel but makes it alot easier

Great instructions and even better pictures....thanks alot.
BTW - for any GM mechanics or forum vendors reading this.....is there a special tool to use on the "plastic expanding" fasteners?
They aren't THAT hard to remove without damage, but the "official" tool would be neat to have.
Great timing. My Hoens (H10 and H9) came in today. I will give it a shot tomorrow. Not quite sure if a definitive answer was given... Do you have to remove the wheel to replace the bulbs or does it just make it easier? Thanks!

Turn the steering wheel depending on which side you are working on for full access

Yes it appears that way...
It is easier to show you where as it is behind that panel with the black fasteners. Just worried that I will break the fastners but I will send it in (warranty repair) and let them take care of it as to find out if there is more to this or if the bulb is just a symptom to a problem hidden somewhere behind it as this happened at 300 miles hardly even used the lights. It used to be easy to change your own light bulbs or headlights and signal lights/turn signals

To replace the H10 bulb you do not need to remove the wheel but to replace the H9 bulb I say yes to removing wheel otherwise you are working in VERY tight space...so yes to your question...remove wheel

Does anyone know if a H9 bulb the same as the one that goes in the C5 flood lights, i.e.: 893, 897, 898?
Hope this helps:
893 bulbs will fit any headlight/fog light application accepting that code, respectively (please note that these 893 bulbs may be referred to as: 880, 884, 885, 890 and 892)
and fitment quide for a C5:
CORVETTE 97-04 9006 9005 893
It appears the C6 H9 and H10 are not direct fitments to the 800 series bulbs your asking about.. BUT contact Hoen and ask...they be the experts>>>
