I'll agree with that.

The other question about 200 MPH that I have is how stable the Z would be at that speed. I thought that downforce, although sucking up power or increasing the requirement for more HP by increasing tire friction, lends itself to stability or perhaps I should say less instability.

The F430, for instance, was designed to have, and this is just a quess from something I read awhile back, between 500 and 600 pounds of downforce at high speeds (and of course, the comparison would have to be at a stated speed).

As I am speculating here, I would like to hear from someone who knows this topic from a technical side.

Then again, it would also increase frontal area of the vehicle in terms of ride height, and the additional rotational mass may impose enough of a loss to negate the effective gearing advantages.

Rotational mass requires HP only when accelerating (P=IA where P is power, I is rotational inertia, and A is acceleration). As you approach top speed, acceleration is approaching zero meaning additional rotational mass does not have an effect on top end (let's not get crazy and say "what about another 2000 LBS"). Conversely, HP required to accelerate a rotational mass is at its' maximum when acceleration is at its' maximum which would be from a dead stop through first gear.
Also, if the gearing drops the engine off the top of its' power curve, it'll actually go slower. HP is what determines top end with a given car, if you're on a different part of the power curve with less HP than peak HP, you're going to go slower.

I like the mathematical approach, but the cube root of 7 is closer to 1.9.. 198 x 1.019 =202

I read somewhere that it takes about 20HP to add 1 MPH around 200 MPH with a nicely aerodynamic car. So I'd guess another 40HP, roughly 50HP at the crank would do it. I also read that a good smooth wax job will give you about 1 MPH at 200. Hoo really nose?

should have specified, but yes, that is what I meant to say.
