[Z06] Procharger C6 ZO6 test car grenades engine on 6psi !!! (1st ride home after dyno)

Procharger C6 ZO6 6psi test car=PISTON SHOT THROUGH THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK on way home
Ya heard it here 1st.
Source does not want to be identified.
The 06 ZO6 was the Procharger "test" car that was on loan to Procharger from the cusomer since 1st delivered. (6 months?)
The ZO6's owner says 6psi totally grenaded the piston (#7?) while the customer was driving it home from the dyno session.
PISTON SHOT THROUGH THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK !!!!!!!!
He claims the titanium rods were undamaged.
Dyno recorded 620 rwhp before the car left with the customer. (D1?)
I don't know folks.
It seems like maybe it would be wise to stop modding the 06 ZO6 with a cam and headers.
I had planned cam, headers, and a 100 shot on a 06 Z for the weekends.
But after what I have been hearing lately,
I believe the LS7 should be left to natural aspiration.
But,
what the hell do I know?

testing means there are still some things to work out. but 6psi is kinda weak to be blowing pistons. *shrug*
honestly, after heads and cams, why blow a 427 anyway? its probably the fastest daily driver evar, and can clobber just about anything on the track sans FI. so whats the point?

damm...No good. When My 07 comes in i'll have the Bpp Vortex and LG pros for sure. I was plannin on at least a 100 shot. Done right with purge valve, heater and fuel saftey switch. But i dont wanna blow the thing. Maybe it would be wise to stick with just bolt on's and a cam? So many horror storys already. Kinda scary to think about blowing the engine in your 80k Damm Brand New vette. What we need is a test pig! Any takers???!!???

11:1 CR FFS!
I always said this would happen.
If you wanna boost you gotta drop CR to at least ~9:1

^ You have a 11.0:1 compression ratio with non-forged pistons... it's not made for it. If you swap the pistons you can make a monster. But I agree... why bother adding the complexity and reliaibility/belt issues of a blower or even turbos when the simple NA powerplant is so capable. KISS

Shouldhave lowered the compression and changed out the pistons.
As far as not adding FI, some people are not going to be happy with what the engine will put out NA, if a highway monster is what you want then FI is the way to go.

I am one of those FI junkies.
But,
I don't think the 06 ZO6 is the car for FI.
Because of the initial MSRP and the costs for preparing the LS7 for boost, I think you'd be better served starting with a coupe/vert if you want FI.

ABSOLUTLEY!!! 11:1 CR and forced induction aren't a good idea unless it is a purpose built bottom end....even then, you would run lower compression. Just glad the info got out.

Info came from the owner himself.
I got the info from a forum tuner that the owner has consulted with since the failure.
Take it or leave.
