K-Tech ZO6?
A friend of mine this evening phoned to inquire about a ZO6 with a "K-Tech" package. Supposedly it is a special order 650 HP car direct from Chevrolet that a well known racer told him about. Anyone know if this car actually exists or is it just BS.

EDIT: I said as it is not going to be available directly by Chevy from the plant. Jim Hall confirms that with his posts below.

That's 552 RWHP on the chassis dyno. I think Lou G. has his motors cranking close to those numbers as well.
It was done with 12:1 Forged Pistons, bushed stock titanium rods, rebalanced RA, their cam, and a few other goodies.

I like that idea. The forged piston swap is a great idea, but unfortunately, the heavier pistons mandate rebalancing the RA in my way of thinking, which is why I would do a complete hot swap of the short block to avoid the balancing issue.
If I had my way, I would use the forged pistons along with titanium wrist pins coated with Casidium (Diamond Like Carbon) to bring the new small end weight down to close to stock, to avoid rebalancing.
Katech also rebushes the rod small end with Ampco 45 or a similar bronze bushing to avoid problems with the heavier pistons.
Casidium has been used for awhile in coating titanium, and has no real effect on clearances. Here is some great information on this material:

This summer
This summer Halltech will be offering our Stage 2 Package which will include our PowerCore RACE Filter, Halltech's Dyno and Tech 2 developed ECM Programming, cam and LG Headers. Lou is working on some cam profiles as well, so there will be options out there.
I expect 620 flywheel horsepower with Stage 2 (525 RWHP).
Stage 1 already pushes 565 HP (480 RWHP) with just our programming and the RACE Filter. We have also seen 595 HP (505 RWHP) with our programming and headers only, with the stock filter in place.
None of our results are ever shown with the filter out of the LS7 AIS.
Our current Stage 1 Package will be ready April 1st, with pre-orders and ECMs ready to go now. The RACE filters are being made by the folks that developed the Z06 AIS (Air Intake System) and the PowerCore Filter, exclusively for Halltech. Dyno results on our Z06, were supervised by Donaldson Company at a facility in Minnesota this winter, with 480 RWHP/448 ft. lbs, with our countermeasure program, and the new Halltech PowerCore RACE filter. It is 18% to 20% less restrictive than the stock PowerCore OE filter.
LG Motorsports, Katech Engines Inc., and Horsepower Engineering have prototypes of our RACE filter for testing, we have one in our Z06.

Katech
Not K-Tech it is Katech or Katech Engineering.
Katech is the builder and delveloper of the C5R and C6R motors for Corvette Racing. They had much design. influance of the LS2 and LS7 motors. SO technically YES your LS 7 is a Katch designed and tested motor. GM now builds them.
Yes you can get GM PP LS7 heads from Katech, along with LS7 cams and even the LS2 and LS7 race motors, road race not drag race. Ketech also has a very nice street LS7 with 585 +/- BHP for about $27,000

Yes they had a project ZO6 that was shown over on LS1Tech.com
and no I would know nothing about the 6 L twin turbo
