I've driven the Murci, Gallardo, 360CS, 430, 355, M3s, 996TT, 996GT3, vipers etc... and I can say without a doubt the Z06 is better than all of them perfomance wise. High speed cruising is eays in this car. I was very comfortable in mine at 180mph. Solid as a rock.

you would think, but ive heard that the murci is kinda doggish, considering what it should be... just like the gt500

sorry but probably it is my friend with viper-redsrt member here did this on his SRT10 - changing ratio at back by 20% (Im not sure whats number but from 3.05 to 3.65 probably-it is +-20%) and he is slowlier on 400mon average 0.5sec and on that 1.25mile drag I did 183 and he 163mph =5th gear in red.
Z have a lot of power 1-4 so I will let them as they are but I will shorter 5th and 6th gear...
Is there any speed limiter at 200MPH? Since I have problems to go faster than 193mph (301kmh) I also think than my gauges are not working well since for ex. my 3rd gear red rpm is 121mph on my screen....

No way. It runs 120-122 in the QT. The Z06 runs 125-127. You can definately feel that. The Murci only puts 435hp to the ground at 3600lbs. The Z puts 440-460 at 3100LBS. Big difference.

and don't forget that relatively high 22.3 sq ft of frontal area......I still think the other cars mentioned do not have enough power to run with the Z06 at any speed. As far as cruising at high speeds for a long distance, that super tall 6th gives the Z06 the advantage here.

According to Porsche, the slowest around the Nurburgring among the Lamborghini Gallardo, Aston Martin DB9, Porsche 997 Turbo and BMW M6 was the M6. They didn't say by how much, just that it was the slowest of the group.

Wow, I thought it would be better! The stock C6 is doing very well then!

Be a open mind and don't think only in 1/4mile. For the 1/4mile 2 gears is enough, so why don't you put the 1st and 2nd gears longer.
Messing with the diff ratio is a lot cheaper and easier than open the transmisson to change gears ratio. Shorter gears may give worst 1/4 mile but the recovers in 4th, 5th and 6th will be a lot more fast. And this is the gears that you use on the street. I'm one of those that agree that the max speed should match with the max power of the engine in the longer gear.

The Z06 has been designed for high speed stability. The design details are directly related to the C6R (the one that won LeMans). There were issues with the C5Z06 cruising at high speeds for long periods of time, but those issues are resolved with the C6Z06. You'll also get better fuel mileage with the Z06 vs all the other cars listed. We think our gas prices are high here, but Germany is much more expensive. If you cruise at about 140kph, you'll likely get around 30mpg (not sure the conversion of L/Km, but it's close to a BMW 325 with Steptronic).
What C5Z high speed stability problem are you talking about? This is the first I have of heard it.

There's a reason this car costs 20k more than the old Z.

I loved my old C5Z but when I drove the exotics and got back in my car the C5 felt terrible. A fast terribly built car.

This car feels just as good as any 6 figure car i've driven.

in the LPE twin turbo car would fit between the turbo and the M6 as fasr as what i'd want.
Sounds like some revisionist history going on here. Terribly-built car? What in the world are you talking about?

I doubt if the C6Z would benefit much from 6 closer spaced gears because the powerband of the engine is so wide. I think the high overdrive 6th gear is a good solution to providing good cruising fuel economy.

anyway. if any m6, turbo's or gt3's want to go from a 160 punch...please....let me know.
I found a video on google a while ago, can't find it now , where a M6 (governor removed) was on the Autobahn racing a Gixer 1000 at around 170, and started pulling away from it pretty quickly, tach and needo slammed, eventually past 210 I think. Extremely impressive.

In the same video, it also beats a 996TT pretty handily from a dead stop...

But I have also never had the Z06 up to 160 yet, so I don't know what it is capable of, all I know is I love it...gave up my M6 allocation for it ( though I am going to trade in my M3 for one as soon as I can find a white one).
