Default Garage Lifts

I am Thinking of Buying a Garage Lift.
I Know of Either a 4 Post Lift or a Scissor
Type Lift. Anyone Have Any Issues Reguarding
which one to get. I do all Maintenace / Mods to
my car so I would Want something that is easy to
work around etc. Thanks.

IMO if you are buying a lift for the primary use to work on your car you may want a two post if you have the room.

If for storage than a 4 post. If ceiling height is an issue than I'd rather have a 4 post than a scissor.

Good luck.

I went with the Bend Pac 10000# 2 post. ($2300) I was only a few hundred more than the China brands. Get the wider drive through of the two.

Man, I wish I had that ceiling height (and planned ahead for the concrete requirements)

Good Luck

There have been many threads and posts concerning two/four/scissor lifts both on this forum and camaro.net. I recently completed a review of lifts at car shows, dealerships, and car repair shops. The lift of choice at dealerhips and repair shops in this area is the "Rotary." After reading many posts and determining what I wanted it for I decided on a two post Rotary. Another key point was I could buy the Rotary locally for less than prices I found at car shows and on ebay with the advantage of having service if needed close by. It is more expensive but wholly made in the USA and when working under a car quality must be a key point. Since I do not need the lift for storage the two post was for me but each lift has pros/cons so consider carefully. Mohawk is another great USA brand. BendPac would have been one of my choices as well. Just be very careful of some of the $1695 to $1995 jobbies out there. Not saying they are not any good but you this is one case of "you get what you pay for."

Bend Pak makes some for lower ceilings but you still must have decent room. I have a 12K lb floor plate 2 post lift and love it. No problem leaving the car elevated just don't rest it on the hydraulics - set it down on safety stop.

Note that 4-posts do not necessarily have to be bolted to the floor, but with 2-posts it is required.

+/- 4" - at least in my neck of the woods.

Default Superior

I use a Superior Lift and have been very pleased with the performance and the ability to move it anywhere quick. This is a real plus if you need to power wash the under carriage of a vehicle and don't want the mess inside of your garage!

I may be missing something. How do you move that thing quickly?

Default Wheels

If you notice the bottom of the 4 posts has mounts for casters. You simply slipthe casters into the slots and raise the posts till the casters are on the floor. You can push the lift around with one man. Takes about 20 minutes!

I also have a 4 post Eagle lift (I can email pics on request).
Very similiar to the superior lift....and been flawless for 14 years....
Four post also give you the ability to " stack" two cars increasing your garage space by 1 car with no addition to the garage.
The height required for the Eagle lift is the height of both cars plus 6 inches...
Pat
