7:32 Porsche GT2 Ring lap time, flying start?
http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/08/f...s-the-ring-in/
I read this as clearly from a flying start.
7:42 C6 Z06, was this really a standing start time? If so, how fast would the Z06 have been for a flying lap time? Lets talk apples to apples!
2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 in Lemans Blue flexing its 505-hp engine at the famed Nϋrburgring F1 track in Germany. 7 minute 42.99 second lap from a standing start vs. 7 minute 32 second flying start lap for the Porsche GT.

Cheap "automotive news" websites...
A record on Nordschleife should include at least who drove, when and some other details, like pictures/video. Also to come closer to the truth about a car on Nordschleife 2 independent tests/records are needed. C6 Z06 has a record done by the manufacturer and another done by prestigious German car magazine "Sport Auto". Pictures and a video are available.
As for the start, I think that all Nordschleife records are with a "flying start". I am sure somebody will find how the C6 Z06 record was done.
Anyone here can read/translate Danish? I have the original news release from Jan Magnussen.

I wonder how much lower the revised shock '07 Z woudl lap around this track, same type driver like magnussen? I know c&d said they dropped 2-3 seconds off their '06 Z tests, and that was on a much shorter course at vir. first car they've got under 3:00, pretty good for runflats

Oh great, another C6Z vs. XXX thread that will go around and around in circles about which is faster and who paid too much and blah blah blah. They are both VERY nice cars and anybody would be an idiot for turning either one down, but who gives a chit about a second or two over a 7 minute per lap track.

This is just the 1st of many cars that in time will beat the C6 Z06's time. Technology wins out over time. Just like the SS/Z07/Stingray will beat that GT2's time.

The mark for the GT-2 was by none other than Walther Rohl. He is the Porsche factory "ringer" for such tests. While 7:32 is very very fast, I surely believe it. He's very fast, the car is very fast.
I'm not running out and selling my Z because of it.
What you make of it is up to you.

So far this is Internet gossip at his best: Autoblog.com heard from Motorauthority.com, who found (without any source or image scan) that Porsche claimed in a "leaked" brochure that GT2 can do...

Now about the claimed lap time for the new GT2: I'm sure that the GT2 will get a very good lap time. Probably faster than the Z06. But the claimed time of 7:32 is just gossip so far. If it was any truth in it then it would be all over internet by now with info about the driver, the conditions and so on. I've searched for some confirmation but there is nothing. I'd call this BS for now.
As the lap time for the Z06 (with Magnussen) it was done with a flying start as most times are.

I know nothing about rumoured time but please, please stop "standing start" ! I not know who started this but there is no such thing as standing start times. No one stop in middle of race track! If you ever been to Nordschleife you realize how stupid this is.
Also I am agree with people who say these times are nice to see but not really important. No one here can get close to these time and if you can then you should be professional race driver and not waste time post on forum

Melting Slicks
In the Car and Driver test of the 2008 C6 they claim to be getting cornering speeds 5-10 mph better than 07, plus better control/steering feel at the limit. wonder what this would translate to at the ring?
