[Z06] Need a second opinion on painting the wheels on my RFZ!

If you can, keep the chrome set and don't paint over those. Get another set base silver to paint over black if you want to go with black.
Plus the chrome is prob heavier and if painted over then it would add more weight. etc.

Chrome is it belongs on suvs and sedams... not sports cars black is nice but on a nice car... I would say white it would be really different maybe even a gold or bronze or something..

Keep in mind WHEELS MAKE THE CAR but man it's a Ron Fellows, isn't that unique enough for you??? Buy 4 rims and paint em purple but don't touch the original wheels. If you care at all about resale value

Do what you want with it, it's your car...plus the more you guys mess with the original the better it is for the guys like me that keep it original. How many rodded out '53's are worth more than an original. I know I'll get some flames here but if I wanted to 'rod a car' it would be a Judge (still gm) or a 427 Chevelle. Vette's are to be original, so mod it out and save the value for me:

Hey, Bro!
White is a VERY hard body color to accent. Given the choice between chromies and black, I'd stick with the chromies.
HOWEVER -- you could spend megabucks for a custom "Silver-Dark grey" powdercoating.
The trick is in the powdercoat.
I have seen some "dirty-silver" rims that look NICE.
BUT -- do they look nice with the white/stripes?
TOUGH choice.
Best of luck to you!!!
Personally, I think a "dirty silver" might look good.......

I love black wheels, I had a set of RonJon Devotions on my black TL and have a black Helo set for my "summer" wheels for my truck.
That said, I'm not too sure I like them on a white RFZ. I would like to see the "Black Chrome" look, that might be the way to go

Not sure I understand the logic behind customizing a RF Z06. But to each his own...
IMHO, chrome has no place on a sports car. I'd Keep the original RF wheels in the garage, and go buy a set of painted wheels to put on the car.

if you want black, which doesnt look bad, personally i like the chrome better, i would just buy another set of replica rims for 1000 bux and keep your chromes in the garage.

In my opinion the chome looks better than the black on your white car. However, the bottom line is what YOU like.

I wanna see you paint it, paint it black!
Black as night, black as coal!
I wanna see the sun, blotted out from the sky!
I wanna see you paint it! paint it! paint it!
Paint it black! Yeah!
Sorry, I couldn't resist saying/singing that.
Seriously though, leave the chrome alone! you already paid extra for it, if you were planing to get black wheels, you should've started out with the competition gray wheels, and a black Z!

Black Chrome
Not a White Car But.....
Here is a black chrome treatment over stock painted wheels:
I would save your factory chrome wheels and either buy an aftermarket black chrome set or find a set of OEM painted wheels and have them done.
Here is an alternative treatment, which is factory competition grey with a machined lip:
Hope this helps.
