2008 Z06 emailTUNEŽ update available
2008 Z06 emailTUNEŽ V4 update available
If you have the Halltech emailTUNEŽ on your 2008 Z06, we now have an update for you.
Thanks to Mike Norris of Norris Motorsports for this get update. Mike is a forum sponsor and his a great shop in FL. www.mikenorrismotorsports.com
For those of you that remember back about 9 years ago, Mike was one of the lead technical writers for Corvette Fever Magazine (hope I got that correct)
The 2008 Z06 has been stubborn in dialing in the air fuel ratio above the 11:1 ratios, but Mike cracked the code on his dyno. The result was 466.7 RWHP/435.6 ft. lbs SAE Corrected (.96). 483.4 RWHP/451.2 ft. lbs Uncorrected SAE (1.00). Corrected is the comparative number used for most DynoJet applications, the Uncorrected just to see the actual HP the car was putting down to the pavement that day and time.
Mike was kind enough to share this LS2Edit file with Halltech for our 2008 customers.
If you already have a Halltech emailTUNEŽ on your 2008 Z06, please send your most recent tuned file to us for this update.
This tune only applies to 2008 Z06s and is not necessary on the 2006-2007 Z06s.

Pardon my ignorance, but what are the drawbacks to an "other than
stock" tune on a non-moded car? I have a moded Camaro with a
custom tune, but not sure what the advantages and disadvantages are
on a stock car.

Adding mods like headers and ported intake manifold allow for more changes in the tune file and gain more power safely without risk.
I'm not a tuner so I don't know the details of what can be changed with additional mods. I know it has something to do with add/subtract timing and air/fuel ratios.

All weather. Tuning is never weather specific. In fact, GMs tune for Dubai is exactly the same as Wisconsin.
The base EEPROM files are the tables that govern and regulate timing and fuel enrichment, but not the dynamic learning aspect of the PCM (Power Control Module)

Once the LS2Edit license has been used it is "burned" to that VIN and cannot be transferred. The two additional tunes are for the original car, and are optional updates such as this one for that car.

The C6 Z06 comes from the factory with a fuel rich tune. The C6 Z06 with just a tune can net 20+rwhp and still be safe. Intake+tune usually nets about 35rwhp over stock.

Hi Jim,
Has it been that long since I did the magazine gig??
Glad I could help out and hopefully this works well for everyone. Jim may be able to elaborate a bit on this, but I feel folks should still verify the tune on a dyno with wideband air/fuel readings.
For what it is worth, according to quite a few of my customers, my dyno is a bit stingy compared to other local dynos. The STD corrected numbers were in the 478 RWHP and 448 RWT area as an FYI.
Once again, I am glad I could help.

Hi George,
Unfortunately it came to me with the Killer Bee, stat and Jim's tune already in the car so I did not get a baseline. Are you ready yet
See ya soon

Jim,
My Z06 is about to be built & I should have it later this month. Would the email tune work as well at a 2000' elevation as at sea level? I know I'll lose HP due to thinner air at my elevation but would the computer still maintain the A/F ratio & adjust timing when I travel lower or higher?
Forgive my ignorance but I've learned to tune my old school cars & have never had a computer controlled car worth modding. Thanks.

The interest rates last week were crazy, I'm refinancing... locked in a 5.385% rate on Tuesday of last week
