With all the problems we face going forward you prefer to live in the past and that is your right.

Your comment about the past "hooked" me. Obama has been forced to hire from the past because of his lack of experience. He has resurrected the Clinton Administration (since before Clinton there was Carter 30 years ago). Speaking of history!
Palin may or may not be qualified to be President, though she never ran for the office, but Obama did run for the office with only 143 days as a legislator under his belt.
I worked closely with Congress and the White House on and off for more than 20 years. I can tell you that the honeymoon is about to end. The promised "future" is about to become our reality.
I support our President Elect because he represents my country. However, as strongly as you seem to feel he represents positive change, I fear otherwise. Best

YOU elected the fox to guard the chicken coop. There will be so much love floating around Washington that they'll give Obama everything he asks for (and a whole lot he won't).
AND, he's bringing a lot of the old foxes along with him from the last democratic administration (you know...the ones who gave our missile guidance technology to China?).
IF Obama can take control and actually change the way the Democratic party behaves...I'll be the first to praise him. But when you ACTUALLY look at his voting record (or lack thereof) and see where he leans, you'll see that his statement of "re-distribute the wealth" wasn't just a slip of the tongue...the democrats are good at the "bait & switch" routine.
It'll start off very innocently, but will soon be a juggernaut that will be hard to turn. Soon the upper tax tables (over $250k/year) will be at a 50% tax rate...how fair . Work 1/2 of the year just to give it to the government. All to make life easier on the guy who only makes $60k/yr. or less, because he is SO taken advantage of by the upper-class. Where is the incentive to make something of yourself when the feds take HALF of what you work so hard to earn?
If you think I'm screaming "the sky is falling", you are correct. This is already the way it is in England, where their socialized medicine and social services are sinking the country. My mother-in-law has basically been told "You are too old, that procedure is too expensive and we'll give you meds" until she dies from heart failure, rather than fix a faulty valve. Once you are over 65, you are expendable.
And how about the guy who doesn't want to work, living in a better house than you because the government pays for it all, including his car and the gas to run it...indefinitely?
The reason we "live in the past" is to see trends, and the democrats have a pretty bad track record. They always think someone needs "help". They reward mediocrity and punish the entrepreneurial spirit, taxing him into poverty.
It isn't because "my candidate lost". It really has nothing to do with the candidate. It has everything to do with the general philosophy of a political party. I'm disappointed that in this entire country that the Republicans couldn't have fielded a better crop of candidates. But is it surprising when the media slices you to ribbons for anything you do? When they MAKE UP terrible rumors about your family to make you look bad, and gloss over (or ignore) others because you are their "darling"? Who, in their right mind, would WANT to subject themselves and their families to that kind of abuse for 2 years? I wouldn't!
We'll ALL just have to live with it. But those of us who actually took the time to study the men (AND women) running will be sitting on the sidelines...seeing if what we fear is going to come true. We'll hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.
There are LOTS of people gunning for the U.S. of A. in the world...bin Laden wasn't the first, and won't be the last. I only hope Obama as Commander-in-Chief has the ***** to take the fight to them and keep it out of our country.
I don't hold much hope for it though

Take no offense at this, but it sounds like you've never made a decent amount of coin in your life? Those that have know how f'ing painful it is to have a large portion of their paycheck carved off.
Why shouldn't I be able to enjoy all (or most) of the money I made? Why should someone else get to enjoy it instead of me? What did they do that entitles them to MY money? I did that work, not them.
Does that sound greedy to you? Perhaps it is. But, again, why should I work for someone else's benefit instead of my own?

Enough said I guess..
Just because one has a bigger bank account than other, does it make him/her a better person?
I did that work? That's the problem with SOME of the wealthy these days. Sure, without the general laborers/lower income workers to do your work for you, you wouldn't make the $ you are making. Show some graditude.. And that's the problem with Corporative America, the CEO doesn't give a **** about anybody except themselves. Get as much as they can, leave with a fat bank account, and leave the mess for the next guy. No longterm vision for their companies, etc.. So with that type of attitude, can you blame the workers for not trusting their exec.? IE. Management vs UAW..
How well does it work when you have " more chiefs than Indians", "top heavy management"??
I guess the soldiers are really dumb for putting their lives on the line for others because they want to help others? :

It is true some do not get it. The AIG guys can't seem to stop partying even when supported by us, and "Big 3" are so out of touch that when they went to Congress begging for money they were transported by 3 private jets.
Fairness to all would be a flat tax with no exemptions. We all pay the same percentage of earning with no deductions. If there is a "poverty line", those below pay nothing. Add a sales tax so that money is paid to the government based on what the rich and poor spend equally and that should just about do it. Unfortunately, too simple for most to comprehend. Best

Let's slow this down a little bit. I was in Viet Nam and don't regret it. However, if I "risk" and you "get paid" by me, we are not the same (not better or worse - different). If you take all you have ($.01 or $1 million) and risk it, you deserve the reward. If you "choose" not to risk, you are deseving of a fair wage. That is it. Taking from one to offset the problems of another has never been the American way. This has nothing to do with those greedy wall streeters who don't get it. The AIG guys can't seem to stop partying even when receiving publio money and the "Big 3" today are so out of touch that when they went to Congress begging for money they did still flew in their corporate jets.
Fairness to me means a flat tax with no exemptions. You pay 10% of what you earn and I will pay 10% of what I earn and if there is a "poverty line", those below pay nothing. The rest of this is designed to employ lawyers and others who simply take even more from both of us. Best

I meant no disrespect to war veterans/soldiers, but the opposite. My point was that there are those would do it out of their own hearts and not for $. I lost an uncle in that war.
It was priceless when the senators give it to those 3 fat cats that's the "Big 3" on their private jets. These 3 guys has no worried financially if their companies fail or not. And while some of the workers may not get to keep their homes.
The other point was any executives/CEO needs their workers to do the work for them. Without them, they wouldn't be making the big $ they are making. Or they can take a pay cut and hire only Directors and Managers to do the work of the workers? The CEO will for sure not make their huge salaries. Risk or no risk, I understand.
While some higer up managements deserved to make big $, but some are their because of there friends/be friended their superior, and not because they are competent.

Maybe some investors are ready to buy but are just waiting for them to sort things out - to declare bankruptcy? If I were a billionaires, I have my check book open ready to scoop up a deal of a life time.

That's what we need. A bunch of foreign billionaires buying the big three. Just what happened when Daimler_Chrysler merged. I don't want to go down that road. Bailing them out to keep foreign investors out makes more sense than flirting with the possibility of depression. We will see.
My concern is if they do file for reorganization, will that stimulate people to buy their product. Or will they still be leery that ultimately in time they will go bankrupt and there will be no way to get service or parts for the cars.
Who knows what will happen? I don't like big government and I don't like depression. All I know is that the last depression needed WW2 for us to recover. Lets not do that again....
cheers!

CHICAGO - Dave Tiderman wondered if the decimal point was in the wrong place when he opened his $35,000 company bonus. Jose Rojas saw his $10,000 check and thought, "That can't be right."
Valentin Dima watched co-workers breaking down in tears over their bonus checks and didn't trust his emotions. He drove home first, then opened his envelope: $33,000.
Year-end bonuses are rare these days. Rarer
