The part number for the tank is 12629421 and Gene's site has it at $1380.41. You'll also need the vent tubes for the tank which is 12623297, and 2 new seals (12629421). Call or email Gene, tell him you're on the Forum, and he make work you a deal on the internet prices. Good luck!
If that's the case, I'm glad I only run my '06 at places that don't create the oil spike condition!!!
If I ever do feel the need for a bigger tank I'll go LPE if the GM part is that expensive!!!!!

I'm quite the lurker on here, so this may seem like it's coming out of nowhere. DH I saw that you had the LPE tank when your motor let go. Did they even mention it as a way of backing out of replacing the motor or was it a non issue? Just curious as I would love to add the LPE tank on my 08, but don't want to risk voiding the warranty.
Thanks,
Brandon

Oil Level after LPE Tank install
I just installed the LPE tank and filled with the required 11 qts and pulled the dip stick to find what looks like a one qt over fill. As part of the install I drained the entire system (both drain plugs) and replaced the filter. Part of the 11 qts was used to fill the filter. Both oil lines were removed as well. It made header install easier.
Should I be concerned about the level at this pt or just start up and assume that it will correct it self.

I have the 10.5Qt. system in my 09Z and find I want it one mark down when the oil is 175*, because with track use and oil at 250* it will be at the top mark.

I let the car sit over night and checked the oil level and it was only slightly high. Started it up to check for leaks and the level had dropped to a little below the top mark. The oil must take a while to get into areas such as the oil cooler, maybe the position of the oil pump plays a part.

The proper way to check the level is to run the car until the oil temp gets to at least 175*, then shut it off and wait 5-20 minutes and then take the reading.
Reading it cold after left overnight does not give a valid reading. Even your owners' manual tells you this.

I know that, I was just waiting to see if the initial fill would drop into the range that Lingenfelter indicated that you should expect when you dump the 11 qts in with the dry fill. Their instructions told you to expect a cold initial fill that was only a small amount over the top mark on the dip stick. Based on that expectation It was disconcerting to see what looked to be at least 1 Qt high. The over night wait resulted in a drop in level to their expected range with the initial fill. I did talk to them after the initial fill to see what they thought was going on and they said don't worry and just start the car and check for leaks. Having plenty of time I just decided to wait to see what would happen. Next time I wont be concerned about it.
