[Z06] Has any Z06 owner...upgraded to the ZR1 brakes?

Not really a weight loss there!
I don't believe there's any really weight loss to obtain. Whatever weight loss via lighter rotors vs. Stock rotors are offset by being force into a bigger/heavier wheels (additional cost there once again).

Good luck w/your attempt in to making the ZR1 brakes works w/the Z06. But as previously mentioned by Gary from another thread concerning the ZR1 brakes being applied in to a Z06; anything is possible & can be done but it does not mean it's being done correct. Also, theres also many after market bbk out there that's now available that is both more practical & could perform better as save weight as well. The problem with being the pioneer, you get a lot of doubters. But if you're willing to spend $$$ & be the guinnea pig, I'll gladly follow suit if it all make sense via performance & practical ($$$) at the end. Subscribe & will follow this thread & your car should it come to fruition.

A couple of Ford GT guys have adapted the ZR1 brakes to their cars. In fact, the car that shattered the standing mile record earlier today (269mph) has the ZR1 brakes. There must be some reason they did it instead of buying Brembos.

IMO, there are better/smarter way to spend my $$$. But then again, I have a limited budget. Bot for those that has unlimited source of $$$, they wouldn't hesitate to do just cuz they can. I can only wish could do the same. Until then though, I'll need to be smart as to how I spend my $.

I thought the ZR1 brakes are made by Brembo.

Hmm.... we must be talking about different cars. The Performance Power Ford GT is the one I'm referring to, who I now see is the previous record holder -- so I stand corrected. They are getting ready to run again, but here was their last run:

They weren't entirely happy about the launch or the missed shift, so who knows what they will do with the 1400HP if they get to use it all next time. The madness never ends when it comes to breaking records!

I don't see how it's possible the ZR1 brakes COULDN'T work on any C6, or C5 for that matter. As long as they can be attached mechanically, they have to work. Just make sure you get the right wheels... btw doesn't someone make an 18" wheel that can accomodate the 15.5" ZR1 front rotor? I thought LG was selling one. Anyway, how the hell could the ABS system even know what size your rotors are, or what the material is that they are made of? If the ABS system can accomodate racing brake pads, and they can accomodate rainy conditions on just about any surface, they can adapt to any rotor/pad combination. It *has* to work. And if you're worried about the front/rear bias getting screwed up, just buy one of DRM's upgraded adjustable master cylinders. Even with the stock brake setup they are the way to go and will do more for cutting your braking distance than any other mod you could ever imagine (except R-compound tires, of course). When it comes to the stuff near the wheels of the C6z, the brakes are a totally mechanical/hydraulic system, so there just aren't any electronics that could go wrong (that matter).
that is what i have been saying all along glad someone else gets it also!
forgeline makes the ev1
and ccw makes the corsairs that fit

I think the issue of why one would consider ZR-1 brakes over say Brembo, or Stoptech is that carbon/ceramic is even lighter than your two piece Alum hat aftermarket rotors. For the extra 5-6k spent on losing weight with those carbon rotors, money is spent more efficiently elsewhere. Too bad you need 19" dia wheels min..so the weight lost on the rotors is gained having to get a 1" dia larger wheel up front.

At the ALMS race in Monterey in May I asked a GM engineer if the ZR1 brake package could be retrofitted to a 2008 Z06. He said it is possible but you're looking at upwards of $20K to do it. In 2008 the brake stuff inside the car (ABS etc) was made by Delphi. starting with the 2009's they switched to Bosch, I think that is what he said. I didn't get into the why's but on the 2008 and earlier I guess it is not as simple as getting the rotors, calipers and pads.

Our Z06 has 2500 miles on this setup, and it works PERFECTLY. In fact, Jason of Katech ran our car this year at the Autobahn with the ZR1 brakes. CHECK OUT THIS

Here is our 675HP 2948lb Z06 in action vs. a C6R Supercar (650 HP version)
We had street tires onboard, passenger, and the driver was being extra careful with the owner of Katech's wife onboard.
The straights show the acceleration of our car. Since then we have removed 11 more lbs, with a ZR1 hood and lightweight lug nuts.
