Default Is there a difference?

Bought a 07 Z06 Shifter for my C5Z...didnt come with a ****...so i picked up **** off of a 08Z06...got the **** in the mail today and the pilot hole in the handle wont line up to the hole in the shaft of the shifter....the plastic below the leather **** looks different than the C6Z **** i had in the past....seems there was more of a lip to hang the boot on with the C6Z shifter I previously had. Also this handle on the shift pattern just looks aluminized...the one I previously had IIRC had a checkered pattern to it as well
was there a changed from 07 to 08? or am i dealing with a non z06 shifter or ****?
not questioning who I bought the parts from as they could have been changed prior to them owning their cars
thanks for the help
Kurt

05-06-07 ***** have the "checkered" pattern and there's no chrome ring where the boot meets the ****. 08-09-10 Corvettes have the T6060 trans instead of the T56. The **** bezel is smooth brushed aluminum, the screw is in a different location, and there is a chrome ring on the boot where it meets the ****.

hmm...so sounds like i would have to relocate the screw hole in the shaft handle and get the chrome ring huh?....sounds easier to just pick up a 06-07 Z ****...I kinda like the smooth brushed aluminum look too....is the 08+shifter itself any better? may just sell my shifter and look for a newer one

I may have an 'upper'part of the shifter and **** at home (I'm out of town right now). I'll check when I get home and let you know. It will be from my 08 and I know the **** is what you're looking for. I'll part with it if I do at a very reasonable price
