Default Can a ZR1 X-pipe be used on a Z06

Can you just swap out the stock h-pipe for the ZR1s X pipe on a 2009 Z06? I plan on keeping the stock mufflers.

Thanks in advance

I think that MarkRx just did it and it fit fine.

I would think it would just affect the exhaust tone, on a stocker .
That's the reported reason why the new CF 2011 Z06's are coming with them...to make the exhaust sound more aggressive.

I had good luck the the Corsa X-pipe. It's bolt up, though you'll probably need a lift and an impact wrench to install it easily.

So the x pipes sound more aggressive? I thought they made it sound smoother and the h pipe made it deeper?

If I am not mistaken, the reason the Z came without an x was to quiet it down. the Z is loud so they needed to tone it done some....just what I have heard. I am all ears. I would like to get a better tone with mine. I think the corsa x is around 350. I would rather put that money toward speed than a few HP though.

X pipes will have a tendancy to reduce back popping sound as well to quiet the overall sound down(def did slightly on mine), I'd assume since exhaust pulses from both banks have an opportunity to collide with each other. H pipes help with pulses(performance and flow wise) but since its not a smooth transition from passenger to driver side pipe, the H portion acts as an echo chamber. Thats why mustangs since the fox body I believe have had an H pipe yet despite their small displacement, the rumble so much. Look up videos from 99-04 mustangs with an H and an X pipe. They loose the typical mustang sound if they go to an X pipe.

I thought the X pipe makes the car sound more aggressive as well. Isn't that why the 2011 Z06 is getting them?

Is the inlets and outlets the same diameter as the Stock H pipe? I really want to try this.

Based on my research it appears an x-pipe will equalize flow thus as mentioned above reduce the popping sound making the exhaust note less aggressive. X pipes are smoother and deeper sounding and quite down the overall note. H pipes make a more aggressive sound. There is no difference in h.p and switching to an x pipe (or H pipe) will not make a performance difference.

I understand in practical sense that that is true, but I thought in this specific instance the GM designed X-pipe has made it more aggressive than the GM H-Pipe.

That is exactly what Tad said was the reason for going to the X pipe I'm not sure if the new 2011 gets the ZR1 mufflers as well, but the CF Z06 is said to have a much more aggressive sound to it's exhaust...close to or identical to the ZR1 exhaust.

H-pipes...deeper, more HP. X-Pipes...higher pitched, more TQ.

I didn't notice a big change in it being louder or deeper. It did have a smoother burble on deceleration, which was uneven with the H-pipe.

After I had the muffler mod done, I could hear some popping on deceleration in the wild mode: I like it.
