I know 18" wheels are the choice to use on the track, front and rear, but what widths should the wheels be, along with what size of tire?

Any help would be great.

A second set of double five spoke OEM wheels (strong, cheap, and pretty light) work great. Get a set of Nitto NT-05s or other non-run flat tires (depends on how far you have to drive to the HPDE and the weather along the way). Used OEM wheels with a few marks on them are cheap and work great for the track.

If you are going to buy HRE or CCW wheels, use them for your DD and the OEM for the track - the stock Goodyear run flats actually work just fine on the track too. Might want to get some better track brake pads if you are going to do much HDPE - I've been happy with Carbotech XP10 front and XP8 rear (too noisy for DD, but great on the track).

I run a second set of used OEM Speedline's purchased from another forum member with stock size Hoosier R6's. I cut in some groove's, as I drive these to/from the track and sometime's get caught in the rain. These are equipped with TPMS and have a reset tool. Also carry a strong air compressor and vulcanizing gun type plug kit.

I like the OEM wheel option, but I always read to use the same size diameter front and rear. So I assumed 18", front and rear. I appreciate all the help/suggestions.

I have also seen some cars with 2002-2004 factory rear Z06 wheels (front and rear). These are 10.5's which I thought would be too small in the rear.

18x11 with 285-295/30-18 front and 18x13 with 335-345/30-18 rear is a very popular track setup. I used to run 345/30-18 MPSC rear until Michelin discontinued that size, now it's probably the Toyo R888 as not too many people make the proper size rear. Dual purpose track tires are limited for these things due to size.

These sizes keep the appropriate 1" diameter difference front to rear to keep the computers happy and are slightly smaller in diameter than stock overall to reduce gearing, while adding some width. These widths are at the max of what you can put on your Z without rubbing. Actually sometimes these rub very slightly at full droop, or full lock.

Think I'll stick with the stock size set up, since the designed rear tire's are 1" more o.d. than the front's, keeping the computer happy. Running 18" wheel's rear would require taller tire sidewall's to stay even, and really can't see an advantage of this for road course use.

I picked up a set of 18x12 rear wheels from a forum vendor and run 335 or 345's on them without any problems . I use OEM for the front 295's .

The 18" setup I mentioned (that many people use) still maintains approximately 1" dia diff front to rear and the computers are happy. A benefit of the 18's all around is they lower your gearing, and car slightly.

The Hoosiers are about the best tire you can run on the track. I bought another set of stock Z06 wheels from a forum member for my race tires and run Hoosiers. I have been very happy with this setup.

I run CCWs 18x11 in front and 18x13 in rear. 315s upfront and 345s rear. The front has very, very minimal rub on the black piece in front of wheel well. Many others I track with use the same combo with no rub. Might just be a slight chasis diff on mine.

I would go the 315s if you can.
