Default ARE dry sump installation

The installation is finally completed of an ARE stage 2 on my new build. The replacement tank comes with full baffeling and de-areation system.
The plumbing for the scavenge points is involved. I went with the Katech lines and their mount for the oil filter near the power steering pump. Due to the cramped quarters around the new oil filter location, we had to fabricate a flexible line for the power steering.

If any one is insterested, a fabricated line isn't necessary if you go to a 2008 and later PS hose. GM redesigned the hose to route differently than the earlier 06 and 07 cars. In fact the new line is a replacement for the early cars as well.

Is it the inlet to the rack (pressure) hose that you're talking about. I'm getting ready to install our ARE 3 Stage when my new engine gets here so it would be nice to have the new hose. I see part number 25962987 for the 2008-2011 models.

Wish I had known about this before. Would have saved some time having to drop the cradle to retrofit the flexible line

Rich the number I have is a 15903240, but that number maybe superseded to the number you have. The number I have is the superseded number for the 07 part.

That comes up as a 2006-2007 P/S hose, but does not supersede into the number I had. If you know it works, then I should be fine because that is te stock hose that came on my '06 Z06. Thanks for the info!!

Are you saying that if you have this 'new' line from Richie that you can install the ARE pan without dropping the cradle?

Cheers, Paul.

Rich, its identical to the 08/09 hose, the only difference is that the 08/09 hose uses a plastic hanger around the steering gear to hang the hose at the passenger side of the steering rack, the 07 hose that I have has a steel bracket affair that would be bolted down at one of the PSTRG cooler mounting points. Otherwise when the hoses are laid down side by side they are identical.

Also there was a TSB about PSTRG noise, and this was the replacement part that was part of the fix. Attached is the TSB

Bit of confusion here - my engine was already out of the car for a rebuild and the pan was installed at that time. The issue with the PS hose surfaced after the engine was back in the car. I was referring to having to drop the cradle after the engine was set. You will have to drop the cradle to replace the pan - period.

I am unsure of the bends in the later stock "replacement" hose. Perhaps TJ or others can comment. I used the Katech bracket and the filter adapter provided by ARE - in the picture below with the Katech AN hoses. The plumbing on the ARE systems are not a direct fit, plus changes in subsequent models (I have an early '06).

The area around the power steering rack is cramped -see picture below. The flexible hose is located on the left (driver's) side of the power steering assembly.

Jim
