That is a great question, and one that I have been wondering myself. I have read that early production 08's have an 8 quart tank, while later production cars have an 8.5 quart tank. My manual states 8 quarts, but when my oil was changed at Abel Chevrolet, Richie told me that my car took slightly over 8 quarts, leading me to believe that I have the larger tank, but the manual was not updated. My car was produced on March/April of 08. The 09's do have a 10.5 quart tank.

Correct on the 8 vs 8.5 capacity. GM did issue a revised Owners manual to cover the cars built later with the 8.5 qt capacity. The owners manual for the early cars end with "A" and the later cars with "B". The dealer should be able to plug in the cars VIN into their system and bring up the part number for the owners manual. That will tell you what the capacity is.
