All you need is the clutch assembly.

Thanks..you saved me a call to you on Monday. I've heard of this swap, but not much info on it. Thanks again..I'll be ordering one.
Spoke too soon..am I reading it wrong that they back ordered? if so when will they be in? The car is down for a few weeks for upgrades. Any ETA on these or am I reading stupid?

Drifting
Input shaft was from a trashed Viper T56 transmission I had laying around. I cut the shaft off with a cut of wheel.

Got it all back together. Went to bleed the clutch and fluid starts pouring out of the torque tube. So pissed. Got to pull it all back apart. One of the fittings on the slave cylinder is leaking. I checked and double checked them. All I can think of is while routing the remote bleeder line it turned the fitting and loosened it up.
Yes I tilted the motor down.

Dude I feel for ya, that is the worst feeling in the world to put that kind of effort into something and to find out something is wrong and you have to take it all apart, if I had a dollar for everytime....
Let us know what you find, may help me if I decide to tackle this project.

Before reading this thread, I think i could have handled doing nearly any kind of work to a car (except internal automatic transmission stuff ) but now I"m 99% sure I'll have a shop replace the clutch when the time comes. Having heard stories of people swapping out clutches on other cars in an AutoZone parking lot, I figured it was a lot simpler than this.

I'm so fustrated. I checked and double checked the fittings there. I had to pull the torque tube once already before the tranny/rear were in to adjust the angle the bleeder came out. All I can think of is the bleeder loosened from messing with the line.

That sucks. Let me know what you find out. I'm doing my clutch swap myself in about 2 weeks, but I will be on a lift, so hopefully life will be a bit easier this way.

I had heard that you can convert the regular Lsx9 clutch to the R series by changing a few of the components? Even though my LSX9 is pretty new and I don't track the car (yet). Is there a kit for the conversion and could you PM me a price if so? I am changing my set-up and am concerned with my LSX9 holding up. I know it's a new concept, but I heard it was out on the market.
Thanks,
TW

Sorry to hear that. Make sure to get it good and tight.

Question, when I do my heads and cam swap and have everything apart can you not just pull the engine to swap the clutch or does the tq tube have to come out?

It was the master to slave line that was leaking. Just pouring fluid out where it went into the slave. Got it fixed and tranny/etc back in. Now I gotta do all the little stuff.

That would be interesting...because my engine is down to just a bare short block. No fluids, no radiator, no nothing...just a bare block. That would be nice to do it that way for sure.

Next time I'll listen to richie and just get the katech bleeder. Going with someone elses setup just to save some money cost me a lot more. The other vendor didn't even return my call when I told them they sent me a defective line.

Your ordeal persuaded me to make some phone calls today. One dealer will not touch the car, the other dealer has one 'vette' guy that will do the swap - for an estimated $1200, my favorite drive train shop won't touch the car and two other shops with borderline experience will do the swap for 1100, and 1050. I reckon I'll be swearing more than you were before I'm done, but I'm going to do the work myself anyway. Thanks for sharing your journey.

Get some swiveling ratcheting wrenches, a good tranny jack, and some swivel extensions. Make sure everything is tight and lined up before going back in. Have a helper or two.

Beer, lots of beer. I've drank more these past 4 days then the rest of the year so far.

To the OP, Sorry to hear about the troubles with the "other brand" bleeder. That's why we will only install the Katech piece here. Now that it's all over, get out and put some miles on it so you can get it all broken in.
