Z06 clutch slipping.
Took my 07 z06 to the track yesterday and experienced loss of clutch peddle. Was told to do 3400 launches spun to much and clutch got hot. My friend has an 09 did the same. Any suggestions. I would of thought it would be stronger.

My advice would be to start with: reading "Rangers" sticky's at the top of Z06 area.....it will provide you alot of insight....Ranger also tracks his 'Z so he has alot knowledge in this area.....(as well as other members to). He has taken the time to post vids as well. I had some issues with mine and he took the time with me and even sent me his personal number to speak with him over the phone. He's a neat guy.....(wish he was my neighbor!!)
Good luck.

The clutch falling to the floor is not the clutch slipping. You overheated it. The stock clutch holds stock power fine, it just cannot be slipped. If you slip it, it overheats and falls to the floor. You can overheat it during a burnout as well if not done properly.
A slipping clutch is when you are giving throttle and the rpm's are rising but you are not going any faster...

I thought the tires where spinning. motor was revving out the gate but was moving very slow. Got out of it and could smell the clutch. the peddle came back by the end of the track.

Who knows what is in Prestone fluid. In Canada I have seen 2 labels with different boiling points on DOT 4 fluid. Don't know if thats the case in the US but I am starting to suspect Prestone is not consistent in their product. I would try another brand since what you think is in the bottle may not be what it really is.

I'm fine with the Prestone DOT 4, but if you are concerned, use the GM fluid.

I use the Prestone DOT 4 as well. You could try swapping to Motul that has a 600* boiling point, but you need to flush your whole system as it doesn't mix and don't believe it will solve your problem of the weak diaphragm springs in the flawed LS7 design. As Dr. Ron (who has mastered the stock clutch with a 1.59 60') stated, it doesn't take a lot of heat well at even stock power levels. An aftermarket clutch like the Monster Level 3 will take everything you can throw at it, as Fartpipe has proved at the dragstrip with a 1.45 60'.

I use prestone as well. My fluid stays pretty clean so I only flush it out every so often. (suck out the old fluid & add new fluid into the reservoir)
