[Z06] Where are you guys mounting your GoPro's on your Z?
plan on doing side by side rolling runs. also, does the adhesive tape screw the paint?

This was my wife in the car at an airport Auot X we did a couple weeks ago. It makes for a cool view of the course and you get a good look at the speed and attitude of the car.

When I borrowed a GoPro for AX I also mounted it to the roof. It made a very nice vantage point an usually had just enough of the hood showing give a little feedback on what the car was doing while not blocking the shot. My terrible driving and spinouts made for good video

Here's a few angles...
(I actually have straight pipes in that video, not the muffler mod. My friend made a mistake)

At the track I want to see the in-cockpit action, as well as the track.
The video below isn't a GoPro - it was taken several years ago with an old low-res video cam, but what I'm looking for when videoing my track sessions is how I'm driving, as well as my line and what's going on out on the track:
I want to be able to see my steering inputs at corner turn-in and through esses and chicanes, and steering reactions to those little momentary losses of traction when I'm right at the limit. You can see in the video below that I can't see what I'm doing at all - all I can see is the track:
I moved the camera back so I could get info on what my hands were doing.
However, if you're just taking video of canyon carving runs and are mainly interested in the scenery, then mounting on the outside is good.
Like Bill Dearborn said, I'd be careful about mounting on the outside for high speed track events where you might damage following cars if the camera comes loose. Many track day organizations may not allow it, or they might require a tether if the camera is mounted with a suction cup, whether inside or on the outside of the car.
