It depends on the characteristic of the track, I guess? Some people driving the Z06 (stock) in Hockenheim say you can drive about 5 laps on the long track, before the brakes and engine and transmission oil temperatures get high enough to recommend some cool down laps. GT 3´s and GT 2´s can take lap after lap without any issues. I do not know about the "non-GT" Porsches, but I guess they are somewhere in between.

Even the 2004 GT2 is not as fast as a C6 Z. Same year GT3 is roughly equivalent but much more expensive. I love the GT3 by the way.

The only turbo that will beat a z06 is a 997.2 therefore 2009 and newer.That car will beat a z06 from a dig not from a roll.I ve raced a 2010 pdk porsche turbo from 60 miles an hour up and beat it.Put a set of drag radials on a z06 and the 2 cars will be even.Same goes for a 2012 or 2013 gtr.That my friends is exactly how it unfolds when the vette is properly driven.The porsche and gtr only need to be floored.

I'm guessing you mean straight line? I can tell you from a 60mph roll it shouldn't be close. Tuned 600hp 996tt was a close race with a stock Z 60-120, 130ish.

The Porsche drivers that I know are all good guys and don't bash the Z06 or any other car. That being said I'm sure there are a$$ Porsche drivers out there that bash other cars, just like there are Z06 drivers that bash other cars... I don't base the car on the driver, I base the car on the car... usually.

i'm a porsche guy!,..and i certainly harbor no hate towards the zo6,..in fact,..LOVE THE THING!,...and even more love towards the zr1!,...i have the utmost respect for the vette,..have many friends with them,..and i love what those cars can put dowm,...love the heritage!,..love the rawness!,...love that you can still get a stick with the vette...[getting very hard to do now,..porsche, vette, beemer m3,...mustands,..camaro[sic],...i think subaru wrx?,..lancer evo?,..maybe a few others?..] I LOVE THE VETTE!,..and trust me, i love the 911 too!,...no dis-respect from this porsche boy!

THAT is my ONLY issue with our 911!,..not enuf exhaust note!,..sound rather weak and anemic,...we don't have any problem keeping up with your vettes,..we have a 2008 911 turbo,..manual, sport-chrono package plus and rear lock diff.,..thing can catch and beat most any vette out there,..but i, as i stated earlier,..ALSO LOVE WHAT THE VETTE CAN PUT DOWN, in terms of performance,..it truly is the most amazing value on the road today for the price!,..the turbo isn't porsche's true track beast,..that's the gt3's, and gt2's,..but for a straight line, sheer accelarating f-n son of a b@##$tch!,..very little can top it,...it's a little dull in the handling dept., and vettes i think,..based on driving many friends zo6's, and zr1's,..have, to me, a more raw, fun, steering and handling feel,...but not much will smoke a 911 turbo in straight line accelaration,..that's been my observance, and experience,...

2008 turbo will have a hard time with a z06. 0-60 most Z06 drivers don't stand a chance, 1/4 mile it's a lot closer, and from a roll a Z06 should have it.

One of my friends has a 911 turbo and the other a GT3. They both respect the Z06.

Oh, I do drool a lot over that GT3.

My 07 997TT is a far better car across the board than my 08 C6Z but it cost 2x as much. 0-60 it is close because the 997TT is deceptively fast where you feel every HP in the Z06, my butt says the Z06 to 60 but after that the 997TT is quicker. I had a 04 GT3 with the ceramic brakes and it handled like no other car I have ever owned and it was quick but not like the 997TT or the Z06.

90sundevil you owm a 911 tt and you think the vette is faster off the line and the porsche at top end?You have it all wrong mister its the other way around.The porsche is faster to 60 mph and the vette is faster once it hooks up.I am very surprised that someone who owns both cars would be so wrong in his statement.

No, but the 2007-2009 turbo (997) it will be a drivers race. The 2010 and current I would put money on the turbo. Porsche's all wheel drive and PDK systems are a real advantage from 0-60.

The new Turbo S with PDK hits high 10's with sub 3, 0-60 times. GM needs to step up the hp and / or improve 0-60 times

The trick is to never run one from a dig. A RWD standard shift Corvette will never be able to keep up with a fully automated AWD car. Seriously the Porsche will embarrass a Z06 this way. But you just need too go from a roll and you should beat beat the Porsche every time.

I've run a few 996 turbos at the strip and it's a joke. We're not taking about a close race in any way. I think the last time I ran one it went 13.1 to my 11.2@127.

my dad owned one, and I assure you this is just straight Shenanigans.

To further cement - my pops now owns a 2012 pdk turbo (so does my uncle) and I have beaten both of them from 60-80 roll races up to about 130-140.

i have full bolt ons - but 20" wheels too.

Nonetheless, they are badass cars and deserve praise, but comparing a stock, or stockish 996tt to a z, is just dumb.
