[Z06] Which cam did you choose and why?

I started with a custom grind cam, but the cam company sent the wrong cam for my application and the lifters were sitting too low in the bores, causing low oil pressure on the top end. I will never touch a custom grind cam again. Switched to the tried and true Lethal cam from Ragin' Racin' while Shawn was still there. Loved the power, but the mild shake and surge really irritated the wife. Plus, car started smoking for a second time, so I suspected valve seals. Took it back to Shawn (now at Lethal Racing) and got the Phantom cam. Loving it. Exceptional power (plenty to roast the tires and shred the spider gears in the stock rear end, which is why I now have an RPM Stage III with ZR1 spider gears), yet it has damn near stock mannerisms. Only way you can tell it's cammed is the lope at idle. Wife drives it all the time now. Haven't yet determined if that's a good or bad thing.

Street Driving
I think if you do a lot of street driving an intake int he 220-230 at .050 range is good keeps the bucking down to a minimum. Overlap of under 15 degrees too.

Safety Car
with aggressive cams, low RPM the car will buck back and forth and NOT drive smoothly
When choosing cam do you want the car for track or for daily driving.
You have to sacrifice one or the other, there is none go to cam that does both.
Pick to aggressive for a daily driver and you will hate it, and as far as track goes, its usually lack of skill that slows you down not a cam choice.

I have the Ragin Racin Stalker, which is one step below the Lethal. I'm happy with it. 551/501

Burning Brakes
I got a custom of my own specs coming at 19* overlap. The thing has a very, very nice idle (get all kinds complements), has explosive throttle response and midrange and pulls endlessly to 7200RPMs. My tuner Shawn at Lethal Performance, SA did an excellent job with drivability, and good power (599RW)on a notoriously stingy dyno and carries ~585RW all the way to 7250RPMs.
Cam was good for 136.xxMPH (29xx DA) in San Antonio, TX summer heat so it has a good 2-3 more MPH in the cam.
Currently, swapping the cam with another custom stick of my own specs just a tad larger...at ~30*OL
By the way, that cam, valve springs (PSI1515ML), pushrods and Ferrea F2042P hollow stem will be listed for sale in a few days (~4500 miles)!
