Default Imagine that - GM sells new LT4 crate motor for less than LS7!

Perhaps this is why GM will be able to sell the new Camaro ZL1's with the LT4 starting at only the low $60's. Love the cubic inches off my LS&, but a 525hp LS376 for $9,698 seems like the pinnacle of naturally aspirated LS (or even LT) engines for street use.

MSRP on LS7 is down to $16,503 (thought it used to be around $21k?)

MSRP of LT4 is $15,625

LS3 is now at $7,911, LT1 is at $11,000, LSA is at $14,006, and the ZR1's LS9 is at an eye-popping $25,509!

It probably has to do with production volume and whatnot. I am sure they are producing very few if not 0 LS7s since the C6 is out of production while the LT4 will be built for years to come. The 376 is impressive, however. The torque curve is very flat throughout the rev range.

The LT4 has a lot of shared parts with the LT1(economies of scale). The LS7 has practically nothing shared with the LS3. Those Ti rods in the LS7, for example, are very expensive. Also completely different heads and block in the LS7.

The interesting one to me is the delta between the LS9 and LT4.

And if anyone was ever wondering why the new Z06 is so "cheap" as compared to the old car, look no further - 10g's just in the motor alone.

Hand assembly vs robotic? After all, they charged thousands just to let you help.

Pushing a button to engage automated assembly can be defined as hand made, according to GM.

I might be wrong, but I could have sworn that LS7's used to be between $14-15K and the LS9's used to be around $21K.

Yeah, and just a couple years ago a LS3 was $6200.
