Default New PB ET, MPH, & 60ft!!!! Pics and Video

Group of friends and I went to Mid-Michigan Motorplex today to take advantage of this nice fall weather. The summary is I drove over an hour to get to the track with my drag wheels, cracked off a 10.0 within 10 min, and then drove over an hour home at the end of the night after making seven passes. Man I love this car!

I was REALLY hoping for a 9 sec pass, but fell a little short AGAIN. Putting it all together is quite challenging as many of you know.

When I first arrived, I aired down my hoosiers to 16 psi and pulled right up with pretty much no cool down and was shocked to pull a 1.41 60ft, along with a new PB ET by a few thousandths of a second. I think if I would have shifted a touch faster, this would have been my 9sec pass, b/c I can't expect to get much or any better of a 60ft.

The track was empty so I could just keep going and going if I had wanted. I made a total of 7 runs and all but one were very consistent (six runs from 10-10.2ish). I managed a best mph of 138.35. The track was shut down for about an hour for repair and then it wouldn't hook afterwards hence the 1.5s at the end.

I think the car has a 9 in it for sure, but I'm thinking about what else I can do to make it a little easier. I'm looking at maybe getting a vette air scoop or switching to a vararam. Even in 55deg weather I couldn't keep the IATs as low as I'd like. A little more WOT street tuning might be worthwhile too. I'll be reviewing scans this week to see where I can improve. If you have any advice, let me know!

Mods are as follows:

Vette air/WCCH stock heads ported and milled (11.8-12:1)
Hell widow Cam
Mamo ported fast
Halltech 107
NW102
ARH 1 7/8" headers and O/R X
BB bullet cat back
RXT clutch
RTS wheels with 315/35/17 hoosier drag radials and skinnies
3,100 pounds with me

DA was about 500-700 all day.

Here's the video, showing all but two runs.

I'm not a drag racer, but now with HCI and an RXT clutch I will try my hand at it a few times this winter down in the valley. You must be happy with the RXT clutch. Very nice runs and great trap speed.

Yeah this clutch has been awesome! I will most likely get another when I need it.

Switch to mamo msd intake, and e85? Those are kind of "easy" only like $2000 more for that 9s time slip

I've considered both. I wish there was a nice e85 fuel pump kit for our cars...

Check with Cordes Performance Racing, a forum vendor. I believe they have put an E85 kit together for our Z06's.

Default Check josh b's build thread

He lays out the $400 solution. It's a diy but I'm to cheap to pay for someone else's labor so once i move near e85, I'll be doing that. Or driver mod, i know you're good, better DA and you're basically there. Good luck!

Awesome runs. Some negative da and you're there. What weight reduction have you done to get to 3100 with driver?

Yeah the weather is only getting better so stay tuned

Clutch, headers, no pass seat, no front sway, and wheels. Nothing crazy.

Those are some killer times. I would do ATI damper over the MSD intake. You don't need a lot. Hell, maybe you just need better DA and you're there.

I'm curious to see what you're launching and shifting at? Also, did you say you drover 2 hours round trip on those hoosiers? I just got a set and didn't want to drive on them cause I heard they wear fast. My track is 35-45minutes away. How long they last you?

You and me both! I want a 9 so bad.

I started looking at my scans last night. I found that I left a lot on the table with some of my shifts. Even though they were all NLS some were simply just too slow. On my fastest pass the 1-2 shift was about 0.32s and the 3-4 was about 0.28s. Those just simply aren't going to cut it at this power level. I was shifting faster later in the day, but didn't have as good of a 60ft. If I could piece my runs together it would have been in the 9s for sure haha.

I'm staying away from ATI until they get their reputation back up.

I hold at 2k RPMs, then floor it and at the same time start to slip the clutch. RPMs go up to about 6,500 and I try to not let them fall too far. Keeping the nose up is key!

Yeah over 2 hours round trip. I usually leave my drag wheels on this time of the year. I get sick of taking them on and off. I can get a whole year out of a set with some street and track use. If you used on the street exclusively I doubt you'd get more than 5k miles taking it somewhat easy. I try to keep 25 psi in them on the street to help prevent the inside edge from wearing as fast.

We are using an ATI damper on the new setup and it has seen 9800 rpm.

Very nice runs, with very good driving
How much power did you make?

Do you think you could share the cam specs?

Looking foreward to your 9 sec pass

Excellent runs...very consistent. Agree with others...a Mamofied MSD would compliment your combo quite nicely.

I haven't dynoed this setup but I assume about 600-615 on a dynojet.
