I'm kind of a similar mindset here...I currently have a proven stable valvetrain. If I were to change out anything, I would want to be sure that my combo is still safe to spin up to (and beyond) stock redline.

Very interested in these. Hopefully the LS7's aren't far off. It needs these the most!

I was at PRI the past couple of days and I got a good look at these rocker arms. The bottom line is that they are a good bit heavier than the stock rocker (you can tell just picking them up) and with the big roller on the nose they won't be a suitable replacement for the stock rocker. Right now, for a bolt-on rocker, I would go with the Yella-Terra. If you want to run an aggressive cam with a roller rocker you really need the help of a professional who can perform the necessary valvetrain validation.

Here are some pics from the Texas Speed booth.

I think you are right about validation and further analysis. I think the true weight would be to take the bearings out and see what the weight difference is. Looks like a CHE bearing on the one - is that the one without the rollers just a brass sleeve which I could see being lighter than a bunch of roller bearings. Looks beafier in certain areas; however, not all areas created equal I could see the roller tip effecting things but on the pushrod side and the housing around the bearing may not effect things as much as it is not right over the valve. Notice how the Texas Speed one focused on making the spring side lighter with the big hollow hole in the middle. Certainly guys that run some spring pressure would like these. We shall see but also when will these actually hit the market?

Overall weight isn't really an issue, it is the moving weight. If all the extra weight is right in the middle, that isn't going to hurt. Now if it is out over the tip, that could be an issue and require some more spring/etc.

I'm sure the Texas Speed rocker is a perfectly good part, but it's not a drop-in replacement for the OEM rocker arm and that is what everyone wants. The Comp SPR Radius Tip rocker is probably our best hope for drop-in solution. The engineering on the SPR looks solid, but after introducing the product for the LS3 at SEMA 2016 they still have not shipped. I was told by the Comp representative that I spoke to at PRI that they are expecting to ship in January. Apparently there were some issues with surface treatment and durability which have now been resolved.

The way these things are mounted for display it's hard to get a good look at the business side of the pallet, but this pic shows it pretty well. I am told that the pallet design of the SPR rocker keeps the force centered on the valve tip much better than the OEM design, and will allow for substantially greater valve lift (i.e. over .650) without adverse effects. Supposedly an LS7 version is the design phase but no guidance on availability.

Hopefully they'll have some testing data to release.

I think they have had the regular LS1 roller tips out for a while how have those fared as these are basically the same thing just for the LS7.

Don't hold your breath waiting. Our vendor community, with few exceptions, doesn't have a good track record of publishing test data.

Yes, I made that comment with low expectations, and very little optimism...but who knows, maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised.

I offered to test a set. I'm local and run one of their camshafts. Doubt anything will come of it, tho.
