Default H/C/I Dieseling on shut off

2007 Z06 with H/C/I. Mods are listed below. Anyone here experience dieseling when they shut the engine off? It diesels a bit before finally shutting down and I'm almost sure it can be changed in the tune.If I blip the throttle a little bit and hit off it shuts down much smoother. My tuner did a great job with all the rest of the tune, I just forgot to mention to him about the dieseling issue. Just looking for some feedback and possibly if anyone knows what needs adjustment to correct this. I know older cars if the timing is retarded too much at idle this can happen. don't know if timing needs to be thrown at it at idle. Thanks for any info

It's a combination of things in the calibration. What I have found to be most helpful in resolving engine run on (dieseling), is to lower minimum air flow, and get the VE table (or VE coefficients) in the 650-1000 rpm range damn near perfect. This is an iterative process, and might take a couple rounds of calibration. Also, make sure you do not have too much idle spark. This engine does not require nearly the amount of spark that many tuners give it.

Yes I figured it had something to do with VE table, spark or EOIT. Unfortunately I sold my HP VCM suite and cables a while back. I do have my current tune file saved though. I guess Ill have to get a buddy with hp tuners to help me play with it. He runs his business and is very busy was just trying not to take up a lot of his time playing with my tune. I appreciate the feedback.

I was wondering how to improve this as well. I think my ve and idle air is all pretty darn good so I'd hate to mess with all that again just for this "issue". I usually just give it a little rev to avoid the rattle and make it shut off quicker.

Could someone explain exactly what "dieseling" is for those of us who don't know what this is? Lol

Engine continues to run (very poorly/erratic) with the ignition turned off. Called Dieseling because no spark is present and the engine is functioning as a compression ignition engine.

I'm also experiencing this issue after HCI install and tune.

It's interesting to note that power to the injector circuit runs on for an extra 1-2 seconds after you hit the STOP button. Tested it on my tuned '09 Z06, and a completely stock '08 Z, one after the other.

I've heard swapping to a '10+ ECU opens up access to tables that the pre 2010 ECU's don't have. Seems this has resolved a lot of the (few instances of) dieseling issues in the C6Z's.

Going to give it a try soon.

I know of no tables available in the 2010 that might help. What tables are you referring to? There are a number of unique tables, but I don't see any that would address engine run on.

I swapped the ECM out in my 2008, to a 2010 E38 last year to get access to more O2 tables and higher IFR table so I don't have to scale the tune file.
