I have R888R's and my installer raised concerns about the asymmetrical tread pattern also. He insisted that I had purchased 4 "passenger side" tires. I called Toyo and they confirmed there is only one tread pattern and it will appear to be reversed from side to side due to mounting. The important mounting step is to be sure the large tread blocks are on the outside and the narrow blocks are inside. The tires must be mounted with the "outside" lettering facing out according to the Toyo rep I spoke to

They are asymmetrical. Same deal with NT01's.

They are asymmetrical so they will not look the same from the left side of the car and the right side of the car. The tires are marked “outside” on the sidewall. Your installer did not follow the directions.

Thanks for the review! Planning to get a set of these when I need to replace the MPSS'. Seems like they should definitely be capable of hooking in my HCIE setup. MPSS' are nice, but not great in terms of hooking when nearing 600 rwhp.

What sizes would you all recommend for stock Z06 wheels? I'm interested in stepping up to the 345s in the rear, but not if it will have a detrimental effect anywhere.

Frankie.. do the 345/30/19's and don't look back... I am running the 4S's on my stockers (stock sizes) on all 4 corners. I need some rear tire tires for traction... Car corners awesome... but tires spin in 2nd pretty bad...

Would you also go with 285s in the front to accommodate for the 345s in the rear? What size exactly would be optimal for front tires if going 345/30/19 in the back? Thanks bud!

I am going to go with these next on mine. I have MPSS on the front, and Sport Cup on the rear, and the care handles and rides great, no road noise, BUT, traction is super limited at 620/550. I thought the Cups would hold better, but I have lost traction at 80+ with a 2-3rd shift. It will hold 1 and 2nd if i gently lay into it, but any punch of the throttle and they blister. This is on heavy ZR1 repros, and I just picked up a set of super light Rennen Concave wheels that weigh much less than the repros. Mine is not a dd, just a once a month (if I'm lucky) weekend warrior.

I run the Toyos on my '09 ZR1. Absolutely LOVE them. The only complaint I have is that they're a little noisy. 285 fronts, 345 rears.

I think he is talking about 19R/18F. So there is a 345/19 but no 285/18 in R888R

My front tires are 295/30R19, actually. I flubbed the sizes in my previous post. Haha.

I disagree. I run R888R on my daily driver (not my Z06) and they are excellent in the rain (driving normally). They won't last like the MPS4, but grip is not even comparable.

Thanks for posting this. I have been agonizing over tire selection and the R888R seems awesome...and I don't intentionally drive in the rain, but here in TN...you never know when you will have to anyway.

I once had a supercharged Camaro with Nitto NT05 on all 4 corners, driving through a Kentucky on the way to Bowling Green during rainstorm that seemed like a monsoon. I think I actually left indentations in the steering wheel from gripping it so hard.

Frankie 15, I did all the math using www.willtheyfit.com and another on line tire size calculator

I decided to run 345/30-19 rear and 295/30-19 front upon the recommendation of LUKE @ Tire Rack.com

I have a a 2012 Grand Sport. The above sizes keeps the ratios and percent of diameter difference
front to rear very much the same as my stock 325/30-19 & 275/35-18

Honestly Ive been having issues getting my SIGNATURE wheel (OFFSET) Fitment correct
so havent yet driven the above Michelin Super Sports...

Contact me with any questions

they will get you home if you drive carefully when new. Not sure what you drive but just a tap of the gas in a ZR1 in heavy rain and you will be off the road. I’m also in TN and we get sudden downpour’s out of nowhere.

Now that I said all that Ghost, I will say a daily drove a supercharged foxbody mustang for many years. Even had to drive home once in the snow with ET streets on the back and MT front runners up front. Very slow and nerve racking drive. Had an aggressive clutch also😬.

I'd like to see video of that wrestling match!

Thanks for this! Can you please PM me if you have any AH/TC issues with that ratio upon installation? Would be much appreciated.

Default Toyo 888r

A little noisy, but the traction is much better than the continental extreme contact. I put down 585 to the rear wheels. I don’t like that the treads don’t match but I guess I can get over it. I went the 345 and 295s. She dead hooks now.

Is your car lowered and do you have any issues with rubbing in the rear? I'm considering 345 section R88Rs but with a tread width that is .6' larger than the 355 Kumho ACR tires I'm worried it'll rub.

Default Toyo 888R

I put these on my almost 660 horsepower Lingenfelter C6 Z06
I was tired of blowing the tires off power shifting to second. Those days are gone with these tires. They hook up hard. In fact, I can lay into it in first gear with my conscience telling me damn something’s gonna break. They bite big time. they do make a lot of noise and are a much rougher ride than the continental extreme contact sport tire. Hope that helps.
