I predict that it will pick up nicely over the previous HCI. Who knows if the combustion chamber consistency and increased quench will allow you to get more aggressive with timing, or oppositely less timing but a quicker burning, more efficient chamber as a result. 630rwhp seems a certainty, probably more like 640rwhp, but who knows. Demz iz just numbers, number of car lengths in the gap are more fun to count.

Jayyyw and I did Hi Rams at the same time, and have suffered our woes with float, and me with clutch slip. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he gets attacked by raccoons in the middle of his glory pull.

Hopefully this next time for for Jayyyw it will be clean and for you as well! Unfortunately I forgot to RTV my timing cover when it went back on and I have to pull it, we found out on the dyno. The good is that I have an ATI 10% UD Pulley on the way and will have that put on. Hopefully this next round for all of us works out!

+1 on that one, the car length and real world are the real tell all. Horsepower is still nice to see though, as I get to barely play with my Z until SCT Charlotte and hardly have time to play in Mexico.

I am not sure about the seal but when it is all off, I will replace it. I am kind of kicking myself now lol. I was quoted $250-$300 for the job and I spent $325 on the ATI Balancer, so I will get this done once everything comes in. I figured with the headache and tool rental $250-$300 would be worth it.

I recommend using an install tool to align the front seal when you install the ATI balancer. Saccity makes nice ones. I used one and my seals are perfect.

During my first cam swap, I tore the front cover seal and just gooped some RTV across the entire bottom upon reassembly. Worked great. But yes, RTV on the corners is needed, at minimum. The alignment tool isn't necessary, but definitely makes it much easier. Luckily, I was able to borrow all the specialty tools from my tuner this go around.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...#post19778226I was able to re-seal front cover original gasket (with 150k) by cleaning a bit then some RTV. No alignment tool. I didn't see the point of an aligning tool when the cover sits flush against the pan area.
In the rear, the rear cover gasket was so brittle it disintegrated. It was leaking heavily. I replaced it with a new gasket, I think $32 shipped, again no alignment tool because it sits flush on the oil pan. I did this job with the car on a lift, trans pulled off.
Was able to clean where it seals to the pan nice and DRY. then rtv, suck it down into the pan gently and on it went.
No issues 10k miles
I actually made a little post detailing each step more clearly:

It's not only the vertical alignment you need to worry about. There is horizontal play in the cover to get the seal centered on the snout/balancer. It is possible to miss-align it to the point that it leaks.
